    Benjakitti Park

I have seen this park from a taxi many times, yet never visited, so thought today was as good a day as any to explore.

It is a very short walk from Asok station for the plebs, and a helipad not far away for the hi-so. Take your pick of the four pads.

The park is essentially a lake with a running and riding track around it.

There is around 50 to 100 metres of landscaped gardens running along the side opposite the road.

The lack of visitors to the park was a real surprise. No more than a dozen patrons, and this was at lunchtime and with office buildings close by. At least 50 staff working away.

Thanks for this Nomad. I was looking for somewhere to run in this area of Bangkok and had seen this place on the map... now I know it has a good running track I'll use it in future!

Nice little exercise track with multiple stations on the far side which I will check out later in the week too.

There is a small park with a dirt running track near Soi 33/22, but small.

The park near Soi 33. You don't mean the one next to Emporium?

Would be pretty close to Emporium and on that side of Sukhumvit.

Emporium is next to Benchasiri Park? Nice little park for running... but a busy area! I used to live about 15 minutes walk from there, so used to go there often.

My first thought was Benchasiri Park too, but the lake looks different, and the noticable landmarks are not the same. Benchasiri has the big fountian out by Sukhumvit that lights up, and it puts on a coloured display in the evenings. In the park is a very distinctive pyramid shaped monument or sculpture. I think this is a completely different park, but I could be wrong.

I can find and post of few pics of it for comparison if you want.

Two separate parks. The photos Nomad posted are the park just south of Soi Cowboy (On the opposite side). Nomad then mentioned another park up near Soi 33 which I thought could be Benchasiri Park next to Emporium.

Ah ok. I really liked Benchasiri, and saw a lot of runners there too ... they have a fitness course there, I believe.

Yeah it's a lovely park. Just too busy for running... unless it's 6.00am... 555

Nomad, from the photo's it looks like a real find.
I don't know Bkk but think it great that places like you have found and Wabb's bike ride, exist in a city of such a size and population.

Maybe one day, with some luck, I'll get to see both.

Yes, it was the Tobacco factory site, which was moved to the provinces. The intention was for the park to be much bigger, but its extension has not been progressed.

Here's a higher resolution photo of the board providing its history.
