    End for Soi 38 ?

One of Bangkok's most iconic street food venues, Sukhumvit Soi 38, is the latest city institution to be targeted by the developers' wrecking ball. Renowned for more than 40 years as a food hub for tourists...

I hope they find another spot. Soi 36 had some space a few years back. Be a shame to lose it...

There is a great Isaan restaurant about 150 yards down Soi 36. Easy to miss Only a Thai sign... and you enter under a bush... 555

But cheap good quality food... in nice home made surroundings..

I remember when they tore down Washington Square years ago (home of one of the dirtiest bars in BKK), think they may actually be building something there now.

Near Emporium on Suk, had some well known bars which relocated early on, like the Dubliner (where I had my 1st Guinness), Bourbon St. Oyster Bar and the Sportsman was one of the last to go.

Is the Sportsman gone? I used to look at that place every time I went into the Dubliner... 55

Down the road from London Square, next to the Louvre. If you see the Pyramids, you've gone too far.

No, that's Queens Plaza I believe, still a number of old style bars there, some are like hitting a time warp! 555

I always thought of it as being on Soi 22 to but it was technically more that alleyway area that you used as a shortcut between 22 and the Phrom Phong skytrain station....

Straight across the Soi from the Regency Park Hotel ...

Memory lane time ?? .... we'll be mentioning Soi 10 and Clinton Plaza next ....555

.....WS was a place that belonged to the days when you could work as an "English teacher" just because you spoke the language and would stay in LOS year after year just by sending your passport on a visa run once a month ... 555

I don't ever think I ventured up there , I had never heard of it before I joined the Forums , in Bangkok I always stayed around Nana , Soi 3 and 4 and Buckskin Joe Village ( Soi Zero ) ... before my last trip I had only been to Cowboy once and Patpong twice ..

Suk 38 is nice. Would be a shame to see it go but if it did there are a tonne of other street food meccas to go to instead.

I love all these old haunts.

    Bourbon St in Washington Sq
Madrid in Patpong that is still there

Tons of history. Makes you just think about it as you sit there

Remember that beer bar soi that was under the tollway past JW Marriott?
