I stayed at this hotel in March 2013 and absolutely love it, friendly and helpful staff. It's in the perfect location at the western end of loi kroh road, not far from all the night life and markets. The breakfast was well presented with a good choice of meals, Asian & western. Rooms were large and the bathroom was clean. Shower had constant hot water and reasonable pressure. all rooms have in-room safe and if you book deluxe room you get free mini bar and taxi transfer to and from the airport. Great tour info desk with good prices.

    And It's guest friendly

Beds are good for bigger parties than the norm too

It`s probably getting a bit old, tired and expensive these days but can`t beat the position.

And it's a pleasant stroll to Stu's DownUnder Pub, just beyond the Night Bazaar.

I paid 1550baht per night in Jan/Feb this year.

Tip when booking, book for 2 people if your by yourself, that way if you have company overnight and they want to eat in the morning at breakfast with you you wont be charged.

Have stayed there a number of times. Nothing but good things to say about this place. In the evenings they also have a live singer who's not bad either.

He sort of adds a little atmosphere when getting a foot massage across the road

First couple of times i stayed there it was around 875-900 baht/night. It`s still just as popular as it was back then.

Foot massage across the road is also just within WiFi reach of Raming...very pleasant working environment!

Yeah I thought so too. Makes for a nice evening to have dinner below in the hotel restaurant on the patio and live music right there. And it's not like you have to walk far to liven things up.

Another nice thing about the hotel compared to others is they do t charge for anything in the fridge. They even provide a cake daily, which I never actually ate but a nice touch still.

I agree, Josho, really excellent hotel, with comfy rooms, perfect location and a very good breakfast smorg. I managed to get a better price at a hotel I liked better last time I was in town, but would not hesitate to stay at Raming again. Plus the name ... oh just so appropriate. After my first trip to Chiang Mai, I told some friends when I got home that I had stayed at the "Ramming" Lodge, and they just said, "you've got to be f'king kidding!!" 55555

Do you think it could be an age thing?

The older I get the more I like to start early

Me too; it's the crack of dawn that does it for me.

Which is probably why I favour a bird in hand over chasing birds in the bush of an evening; frankly I am more interested in a decent night's sleep then.

It's a long time since i have been to the North, but Ramming Lodge sounds a good option, if/when I make it that way again.
