    Mae Kok Longtail Boat Trip

Decided to explore more of the Mae Kok river by longtail boat Thaton>CR downstream.

Modern Toyota Corolla Altis taxi from CR hotel to Thaton 1500baht
    Choice of
squeezing in with the backpackers on the public boat 350baht
    OR
VIP boat (seating up to 4) 2200 baht.

Me and Nora chose the latter for the 3 1/2 hour trip.

Some weird moving contraption that we stopped at on the way at some hot springs.

    Wharf at Thaton.

    Destination in the distance.

    Happy chappy.

    Place alongside the river.

Resort we stopped at for a coldy along the way.

    Some local wildlife.

    The boat.

Nice day out, very relaxing sitting back and taking in the scenery cruising down the lovely Mae Kok.

Recommend to do it in Nov or Dec as its much greener, the air clearer and a bit more water.

I usually forget to bring a camera. I remembered this time but forgot tp take pics. Was a good day out but I was a bit sore next day. The seats weren't too comfy. If I did it again I'd get the VVIP boat with reclining car seats.

It's a thingo with some arms and links all connecting to an electric motor bottom left.

It appears that when the motor is started it all moves with people working, dogs sniffing ass and all sorts of stuff going on by the look of it.

It was at a hot springs that we stopped at. We were hesitant to walk in at first as we were sure that someone would spring out from the elaborate office at the front with their hand out for money but it wasn't so. We were told that the k1ngs money had paid for it all and it was free to walk around.

Nora checked out the motor to see if we could get it going but it seemed rusted up and neglected so didn't take the risk in case it fell to pieces and we would then have HiM after us for money 55

Good reporting Lew, went down to Thaton the other week to check out the river, Sunday and the place was quite busy with locals, this was after doing the hot spring thing at Fang. Nee and I shared a cabin while her mom and sister shared the one next door, very risqué of us!!
We visited the Temple as well, still only touched the surface of the area but now I'm part of the "Lisu"family more and more should open up to me.
Very nice part of the world.

I love coming across things like that - especially when there aren't a great crowd of other people around.......

Looks like I have one more place on the list to visit. Seems to be endless number of places in LOS. Hope that doesn't change.

There's plenty of lakes, rivers and dams in the north of LOS.

Most with long tail boats, rooms and floating restaurants to laze round and enjoy.

Even a ferry towed by a little longtail 55
