    Cheers, Rob.
Lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting: holy s.h.i.t what a ride!

Now I am going to be there in Nov, Loi Kroh area and when I was last year, I only found one Thai style restaurant (fish) on an alley nearly opposite Ramming Lodge, the TGF is gonna want more local thai food options than Paak Dang, at least for lunch, any suggestions?

^ turn left out of Ramming Lodge and keep walking along LK road,a k or 2. you'll find much much more on the street and in the night bazaar.

If she wants full on Isaan spicy drop into the DUP and the girls in there know exactly where to get it.

Just inside the moat from Loh Kroh is Johns Place, slightly towards the gate, has falang and thai food, the girls seem to like the place and its good value, if in the evening go up to the rooftop bar for a view and meal.

This one is a hidden gem that is a little hard to find. It is about 300m up from riverside on the river. Not sure if any BM's have been and can help with better directions.

It is very cheap and mainly locals go. The food is some of the best I have had in Thailand and my Thai friends say the same..

I have been there a few times at night and it has always been pleasant. The food is good, a nice view of the goings on along the moat if you sit that side. And they do occasionally have the traditional dances as entertainment.

it gets very smoky around the moat in the smoky season with all the pollutin TT's and songtaews adding to and matching what the farmers do.

i use to sometimes sit at the ting tong bar of an arvo but the visible smoke was a bit of turn off.

I know there is a whole bunch of expat regulars that meet and sit downstairs at Johns Place during the day. Many used to drink at the Half Moon, but that seems to have lost it's popularity.
For daytime people watching it is always an interesting area... As for the smoke, as Feb, March and April are when I go, it's the only time I know 555
