Drugs, matchfixing and crime figures in all sports

Well it seems poor old Lance Armstrong has lots of mates in all our sports.

The Aust. crime commission has made major announcement's today, apparently they have information and intend going thru all sporting clubs, AFL, NRL and A league Soccer

Apparently there was a $40mill Au bet on an A league match here in Aust, they suspect was a fixed match.

If it is this year, must involve Perth Glory as they have lost 9 games 1-0 so far this season 55555

Will be interesting to see what happens at Essendon as the last 2 seasons they have started like a steam train but fell away mid season with so many injuries etc. What has come out recently could have a big bearing on that sort of performance.

Apparently some of the stuff they say has been in use hasn't been passed for human consumption.

It seems the stuff has been handled by conditioning experts, the one that has been caught in the AFL was also doing Manly Warringah and a couple of others,

Well I guess that when ASADA saw the results that USADA got with the Tour, it was a natural for them to select on a local target.

In "The Age" today, we start to hear about "The Scientist" behind "The Rejuvenation Clinic" with links to the "Outlaw Motorcycle Group" and the "Escort Agency".

All the stuffed shirts meanwhile are joining "Shaggy" in the chorus line.....

    Interesting point, the naming.
Specific allegations have been made against one AFL club.
Then we get all the palaver about "Legal reasons" Blah Blah Blah, then..

Fremantle chief Steve Rosich defended the AFL club's reputation as a "clean team", saying the Dockers would only ever inject natural substances such as vitamins.

    So I couldn't possible say...

I find it amazing that anyone would actually consider "Injecting" vitamins.
Most folk would just pop a capsule a day (But only where normal dietary intake is insufficient of course, and if pain persists, consult your Health Care Professional).

Apparently a perception that injecting vitamins means you get more benefit than oral administration. Though this appears not to have been proved...

This is the result of greed........I am only 51yo and I can remember the East German teams at the Olympics being suspected of drug use then, then the Russians, then the Usa, now the Chinese.

The Pakistani cricketers in jail now for match fixing, European soccer allegations the other day. Lance Armstrong and others in cycling the list goes on and on and on and on........

Even in Oz we have had rugby players and jockeys caught up in betting and drug scandals. Just goes to show it was all the tip of the iceberg and I think now that it is in the open and more investigations will reveal more.

I am not one to tar all with the actions of a few and it is only a few but that few are increasing because they think they can get away with it. The penalties have to be increased to life bans for FIRST offenses and as in the case of Lance Armstrong sued for return of money and even in extreme cases jail sentences for fraud. These people are "role models" and held up as such, the example I use is two brothers, footballers. One Tv and football career was shattered because he had a gangbang in NZ and the other openly admitted to using drugs in his career and was handed a lucrative TV contract to report on the footy. It's the attitude of drugs-good and gangbang-bad and the penalties we hand out in Oz for drugs that gives such a blarze attitude to drug taking. A smack on the wrist here and big problem when they try to do the same in other countries, then the community complaining about such harsh sentences handed out to Oz citizens......

Sorry rant over, I will be keen to see where all this leads in the future because in the final wash up it is still all about money and gambling and while there is limited resources to keep a eye on all this the unscrupulous will find and use every loophole they can find.....Isn't that the way of the world.

Injections of any kind are illegal within the AFL..... You can apply for medical reasons i.e Insulin or Cortisone but needs to be done on an individual basis, so the injecting of vitamins goes against the AFL's drug codes.....
Apparently the "Chemist" involved in the Essendon scandal is doing a 'tell all' interview on Monday.

Not too many years ago the Brissie Lions were given blood transfusions at 1/2 time. Not sure of the detail, but if thats what is required to win, then in aint sport.
