The kids were all her own, they were Palm/Thursday Islander as are most of the local community people.

There was no mention of a father/husband although there was a grandfather helping police on site.

Neighbours say they heard mum suspected of killing eight children plead for forgiveness

    • December 20, 2014 12:00AM

Mersane Warria with her son Rodney in 2009. Last night the Cairns woman was being investigated over the death of seven of her children and a niece.

A MUM suspected of killing eight children was heard pleading for forgiveness in the hours before they were discovered stabbed to death.

Mersane Warria, also known as Raina Thaiday, was last night recovering in Cairns Hospital from wounds detectives believe were self-inflicted.
EARLIER: EIGHT CHILDREN FOUND DEAD AT CAIRNS HOME
Senior police last night told News Corp the 34-year-old was under investigation for killing her seven children and niece in one of the worst mass murders in Australia’s history.
The children’s 20-year-old brother discovered the gruesome scene at their house on Murray St, Manoora, about 11.20am yesterday and alerted authorities.

Neighbours reported hearing a woman who sounded like Ms Warria screaming in a mixture of English and Torres Strait Creole, a native language of islanders.
They said she said: “(Expletive) the welfare people. Don’t let them take them away from us. Good bless us. Forgive me for what I’ll do.”
About 12 detectives and specialist officers have been flown in to help local police investigate the tragedy.

So she basically decided to kill her kids rather than let the government get their hands on them.

As insane as that is, there's a strong warrior spirit in that act. Islander people still have a lot of that in them.

Fucking poor people though. They sure do breed like rats.

So I'm guessing your not so effected by the innocent children's death?

Bro, that's a preposterous post. Just disgusting IMO.

@ post #12. I can't speak for them, but most "Islander people" would likely be offended and repulsed by that thought.

That's how they are though. The mindset is pretty ingrained in their culture.

I made no comments about my own emotional state about the affair. Just an observation.

I can't for the life of me imagine how anybody could do that to one child, let alone so many.

I also con't for the life of me imagine how none of them were able to escape.

Fucking gutted feeling for the poor little souls.................

May they Rest In Peace !

Another horribly tragic episode. Such a shame that people can become so mentally ill to do such things... poor kids. And I feel for the parents of the one child that wasn't hers...

I think I understand what Bacon is saying - and IMHO, very uncharacteristically expressing himself badly for once.... but I disagree ... no warrior spirit here ... just good old fashioned mental illness ...

This was a murder suicide almost, she only just failed to kill herself (she tried). Suicide is normally about a perceived lack of options ... sad...

Incredibly households like this do produce worthwhile and valuable members of society, I saw it heaps of times, these kids who beat the odds, saw it so often I dubbed it "white sheep syndrome" ... you'd go into these houses, chaos everywhere, and one of these 6, 7 or 8 kids would be sitting there at the kitchen table, doing his homework, still in his school uniform, articulate, intelligent and polite, while "Dad" is passed out on the couch and a little brother is taking a crap on the back lawn ...

As for me ... I was expecting Slam's first post to be "if only one or two of them kids had owned a handgun it would never have happened".... 555

    Enjoy...

So she is 37, her eldest is 20 so she was pregnant at 16 and had 8 kids to 5 different fathers.

Living with 8 kids plus other family members coming and going, would be enough to have you crack up and now there seems a chance she was on Ice at the time.

    Charges expected for Cairns mum

The mother arrested in Cairns could soon be charged with murdering 8 children, 7 of them her own.

A CAIRNS mother arrested on suspicion of murdering eight children, including seven of her own, is expected to be charged on Sunday.

MERSANE Warria, 37, remains under police guard at Cairns Hospital recovering from stab wounds.
Detective Inspector Bruno Asnicar on Sunday morning said detectives had formally interviewed Ms Warria and officers were working towards laying charges. "We've achieved a lot overnight - I'm very happy with how it's going - and I'd expect we're not too far off getting to that point," Insp Asnicar told reporters. "I anticipate with the progress we're making at the moment that we'd be in a much, much better position by this afternoon." Insp Asnicar said the results of autopsies on Ms Warria's seven children and a niece, who were found dead at Ms Warria's home in the Cairns suburb of Manoora on Friday, could be known as early as Sunday. Although knives from the scene are being forensically examined, suffocation is also a possible cause of death, he said. "We are considering that and that's why it's taking a bit of time," he said. "It could be a range of things, from suffocation to 1000 other things." The inspector also addressed reports about problems in the neighbourhood, reported to be one of Cairns' worst areas. "I'm not trying to pretend that this area hasn't been a problem in the past, but for my team, we haven't had any particular issues here," he said. Insp Asnicar refused to comment on reports that the drug ice may have played a part in the deaths, saying any details along those lines would be presented in court. Several church services on Sunday will remember the children - four girls aged two, 11, 12 and 14 and four boys aged five, six, eight and nine. Ms Warria was the mother of the seven youngest children and the eldest girl's aunt. There were heartbreaking scenes at a park next to the crime scene on Sunday morning, when dozens of people arrived in tears to attend a makeshift memorial set up there. One of the men, possibly one of the five fathers of Ms Warria's children, could be heard wailing and shouting: "My babies, my babies!" The man had to be helped back up the street, appearing too distraught to walk on his own. A distressed older woman could be heard calling for her grandchildren as well.

......One of the men, possibly one of the five fathers of Ms Warria's children......
This sentence alone puts real meaning into the story and begins to explain the inexplicable....
And where the hell was Biggles.....?....when you needed him last Saturday....?
