    TV'sseries- Life on the Dole

CH 9 has a new series, from UK, called Life On the Dole.

Bloody hell, my blood pressure is up 20 points just watching it.

Last week it was about families wanting a bigger council home free of course.
One guy has 26 kids to 15 different woman.

Another family, large, were given the place next door as well as where they wer, with 80k pound renovations so it became one place.

His complaint was they were making noise all day and it was dusty, ..they should have put us into a motel while they did the reno's.....FFS!!

Tonight it was on people who had some benefits cut, for not doing what was required, like turning up for interviews etc.

One young girl has a dog, she and her friend that has kids, were at a shopping centre and in the playground, it was outside, the dog is off the leash and racing around and barking, jumping upp etc at kids, everyone else bails out, the dog has knocked a kid over and stolen his soccer ball.

Some guy in a car calls out to the girl to ...put the F dog on a lead....she goes off her head.

Next the dog runs away and they go looking for it, 1/2 hr later they realize they have lost one of the kids, a 3 yr old...an hour later they find him.

The whole show just shows how none of them have put in anything but expect everything.

Loads of these sort of programmes on at the moment. I never get the blood boiling thingy.. I have never seen anyone on these shows who look like they have a good life. Even with a council house and Sky TV and a 50 inch TV. Looks a grim existence so what's to get the blood boiling. Just feel sorry for them.

Fcuk feeling sorry for them, they will probably be the bastards robbing your house next week. You might then have a different view on things when that happens

The reason is to give some people a chance to feel superior and let them scream at the TV...weirdly there seems to be a new phenomena where many people like to feel angry and outraged by the behaviour of complete strangers as depicted on telly...strange days indeed...especially when most of the "incidents" are contrived by the producers

If you don't like it turn it off

Reality is a word that lost all credibility a long time ago as far as TV shows are concerned.

And NZ.... I see them every day. Makes me work harder and more efficiently so I can pay more tax to help them along their pointless existence.

Yeah sure it's a TV show but it is about real life situations. To hint that it isn't real is naive.

Yes Fionn, I was expecting that comment.
I have been on it for 2.5yrs.

The difference, as I have said before, is I have paid into the system all my life, since I was 15. I recently was let off a tax debt of $4,500 because of my circumstances and the fact I have paid over $1.2mill (that fig was what my file showed and was taken into consideration) in personal income taxes over my life, plus all the business tax etc.

That was what made my blood boil, these a holes that have not contributed, expect they are entitled to all this stuff, free housing, etc...one guy was bitching because his dole was cut back to 1,000 pound a week he hasn't had a job in 30 yrs.!!!
Of his 26 kids, 1 works.

That's not how welfare works tho. You contributed to the pot, sure, but that doesn't make you more worthy of state help than someone else who hasn't contributed as much.

This where the producers could use the old AC/DC song TNT as an intro just change it TPT

Fair enogh but I don't go around demanding more than others, I don't get free housing, I do get rental assistance of the max $26pw.

Have you watched the show?? Yes I know it's TV and probably the producers have set them up a bit... but if your not working why have more and more children, unless you are working the system to get more free money.

And no, I don't have X box's and loud sound systems to entertain me during the day like the guy on the show.

And then there was the young mother who wanted a bigger home because the 2nd bedroom was filled up with her childs toys.

How Welfare works ? Let the lazy ones who don't want to work, refuse to work, treat welfare staff like **** , expect everything to them on a plate get away with it whilst some poor bugger works his arse off to make ends meet for his family and gets no assistance whilst these lazy pricks sit around do naff all and expect everything. Those who at least try deserve help.

A good mate has worked for Welfare here in Aus and some of the horror stories, heartbreaks etc are sad, but the lazy asshole ones I've heard, you wish nothing but bad karma on them for life. In many cases not their fault **** breeding **** they never had a chance.

A day working in a welfare office may change your outlook

I think I have seen it. But as SE says above there have been loads of these types of show on the last year or so, they all merge into one to be honest. I just can't get particularity wound up by them even tho I agree it's a bit ridiculous as to what they get away with. But lots of these people have been born in to being poor, living on ****ty council estates, drug problems and alcohol problems, single parent households, poor or non existent schooling, joblessness and no hope ingrained from an early age. If they get some money for a bigger house or cable TV or a bit of dole money for a smoke and drink then so be it, at least will probably make their existence a little more bearable.

What I find grating tho, and we had a big debate over on AI during the UK elections, is the big businesses, bankers, self proclaimed 'wealth creators', many who get huge tax payer subsidies and preferential treatment from government lecturing us that taxes need to reduce and benefits cut to sort out the deficit. These guys get amazingly rich off the back of the taxpayer. Why are we not more annoyed at them rather than channeling our ire on poor Deidre from the flat who has had a few many kids, has a 50 inch TV and never had a job in her life.
