    question on LAX airport

    Some questions on LA airport.
I am looking at flying from SYD to LAX arriving 06.30 with Qantas
I then plan to fly on to Cancun flight departing at 10.30 with Interjet
    My questions are
    1. Do I have to collect my bags, go through customs and recheck in to the Cancun flight or can this be done in transit somehow.
    2. If I do have to recheck in do I need a visa to USA to do this.
    3. Is 4 hours enough time to make the connection

    Any help appreciated

How much did that flight set you back? $1100ish yeah?

Yeah I think this might be the time to visit the land of milk and honey. Hopefully prices stay that way for a while. It's worth it even with the current exchange rates. We're so used to paying 10 bucks for a pint it'll still work out pretty cheap once over there. A mate is there right now and is loving it. Second trip in the last 4 months.

Had it at around $1000 2 weeks ago, even less using my 45K points I have, it was about $700 IIRC.
Held off waiting on a mate who's fooking around and we missed it, Grrr.....
Currently $1276 for him, lees for me.

You should start looking now. The market is fooked! I'm looking for something else as well now. Been submitting applications for a few weeks and I got nothing.

I got head hunted a year ago and again a month ago from the same company, I'm considering it. Its actually much the same as what you just did setting up new stores and converting old ones to a new franchise but the thing I don't like its Australia wide lots of travel. Just don't know if I want to work away.

I haven't done LAX for a few years but if IIRC the U.S.of A. doesn't do transit.

(that should wake up our American colleagues for comment!)

    Yes, yes and yes.
You need to collect bags and pass through customs.
    You need a visa.
4 hours should be enough assuming incoming flight arrives about the right time.

Just a note: my last booking was with Eva LHR-BKK-CNX with Bangkok Air and return; Since new year Eva gives 30Kg baggage for Y class but on return check-in CNX, PG did not know this and asked for proof as I had 26Kg. Also on the counter was a notice that they would not be through checking baggage if the sectors were not on the same booking (luckily mine are for April) and so, if you made two bookings say to get a good price, you would need to pick up baggage on the way through BKK etc etc. I will avoid the USA as much as possible as that is an unreasonable formality if only in transit.

On our July trip we have a connecting flight LAX to Vancouver with Delta. We are traveling with mountain bikes in a special bike bag. The weight is 27 - 30kg each. With Delta I cannot book sports luggage online so phoned them they said I need to do at the airport. I have never booked sports luggage at the check in counter before but I'm expecting some heavy costs. So much easier traveling to LOS with the bike.

Wouldn't it be easier to rent bikes where you go? It sounds like a lot of hassle since you are going to a few areas. And then the risk of damage or loss.
I just girl in bar. Buy me one dink?....
