I can forget the internet for the length of my flights. It's only when sitting in airports that I want something to do.

Done it on Virgin domestic here. It's kinda cool using Google maps while looking outta the window and knowing exactly where/what you're looking at.
Spotted 1080's farm house out one time 55

Heading to NZ after Christmas.....any recommendations on Airlines these days? AirNZ out of Singapore looks good, but also looking at Thai Air, BKK to AKL direct.

AirAsiaX lie-flat/Premium if you can get a good deal is approx the same as TG economy. Depending on AAThai/AAX schedulin you may have a lengthy stop in KUL although free use of Red Lounge makes up to 3 hours more bearable. A brief qone hour stop in OOL allows one to stretch legs and arrival time in AKL is late afternoon.

Otherwise ... ThaiAirways has the best direct service. I'm yet to fly their 787 service ... will report back end of July.

AirNZ/SIN via Singapore seems exxy by comparison and connections/arrival times etc. have never really suited our AKL visits.
    Cheers, Rob.

Thai Air 787 is fairly ordinary. i was more comfortable on the new AirAsia X with the extra legroom.

I like the idea of a flatbed but adds 3 hours to the journey.

If anyone is in Perth City and likes sightseeing they have a couple of options for those who like flying, one is the Seaplane as pictured, 2nd is a Helicopter which leaves from Crown Towers (Old Burswood Casino). I dont know the price for the seaplane, the Helicopter is $150 Aud for 10min in the sky, if you want to pay $190 you get 20min and a flight over the city following the river to Fremantle and then up the coast before returning to the Crown.

^ Love the 'Cats', done alot of diving in the Solomon Islands, I believe there is a scuttled Cat in a lagoon in one of the more remote islands (dived on a B17, Wild Cat and Dauntless Dive Bomber there, awesome!).

^ The B17 I dived on crash landed close to shore, but close to the Japanese lines, the survivors were captured and bayonetted!

The Japanese were taught from childhood to never surrender. Die with honour. Take no prisoners. Expect no mercy.

Those 738's can be very noisy if you're abaft of midships. And ... Indo pilots ... not for me thanks!
