Some of their planes are getting a bit long in the tooth.

I am in a bit of a quandary I tend to alternate between SA and Emerates. SA is a lot shorter trip and I far prefer Changi to Dubai airports.
but the Emirates fleet that they use on the South African leg are much newer planes.

aparently the plane was fully fuelled when it turned back (as ya do) and had to dump some before it landed.
seems like the wing had a nice coating of the stuff

Given Emirates fleet is 3 times larger than Singapore the circa 1 year difference in age is immaterial. 777 I flew dubai Athens in. December was delivered in 2005. Singapore's 777 I shall fly next week is a 2009 delivery..... scorch marks buffed out ok ... 555
    Cheers, Rob.
Lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting: holy s.h.i.t what a ride!
