    Concierge body odor

I live in a building that has concierges at the front desk.
They are all very nice and do a good job when you need them to

But they are all Indian and a few of them have extremely strong body odor
To the point that you smell it instantly when the elevator door opens and it overwhelms the entire lobby.

Obviously it's a culture issue but very uncomfortable walking into your own home every day with such a strong unpleasant smell

Do you think it's rude to mention it to the management company? ( I already sent an email, worded as nice as I could)

It really is a dilemma when you factor in the cultural issue

I had to tell a Indian Cab driver to pull over and let me out half way to where I was going one time. Im not kidding this Guy stunk like Shit, I was dry reaching.
He said why you want to stop, so I told him "you stink like shit!"
So yes mark you should say something to him and the Management .

At first i agreed with this, as it seems fairer ... and then after thinking about for for a bit, their could be a downside, like never receiving a proper service from them anymore, no favours etc , is they do get offended

So the email is probably better ...although i would have done the complaint anonymously, as who knows management might also be indian, and then the above could apply ..5555

You could take the subtle approach and gift him a shed load of deodorant.

Or you could just tell him - "man WTF - you really PONG" !

If it's a cultural thing you're worried about start farting really loudly and tell them yanks always fart - it's a sign of endearment 555

Addressing the problem you perceive is one thing.
Next is the question of how to "solve" it.. Might not be that easy.

Body odor is determined by genetics, skin type and skin conditions, the bacterial flora everyone carries around, diet, hygiene and smell perception.
Commonly when someone smells bad, it is interpreted as (solely) the effect of poor hygiene. However, in my experience, it rarely is.

So what would be the desired outcome for you? How would you expect the concierges or management to handle this issue?

I would have thought Rak, the desired outcome would be =not having to gag when you walked into your (probably handsomely paid for ) lobby !

Rak might know... but who smells worse? The Indian or Paulie?

Indians won't be able to smell him but they will smell you. I had this happen to me.. this Indian guy I worked with said to me.. "I don't mean to be rude but your body odour is real bad..."

I was gobsmaked because I always thought he smelt bad ..55

So do we become immune to certain smells? ie people who eat similar foods to us we can't smell... but if they eat different foods, they do smell?

Other than that Paulie, call the fire brigade... there's an Indian on fire in the foyer...
