Fresh garlic is used in large quantity in making chilly sauce. A chilly sauce factory consumes up to 50 tons of fresh garlic every month. Roughly half of the 50 tons comes from China, and the other half is procured locally.

First, let's talk about garlic from China.

You see, not just anyone can import garlic from China. Garlic is also produced in large quantity in Thailand. The government protects garlic. So you got to have the quota from the government. The government will allow certain companies which exports a lot, to import garlic from China. Don't ask me how, but I have the quota, so I can import a certain amount of garlic from China.

The price for unpeeled garlic from China fluctuates quite a bit, but for now, I would say it's 0.75 USD/Kg. 25 Baht. FOB.

After the garlic is imported, it is peeled and then sold to food factories at 2.42 USD, or 80 Baht per kilo.

    ---

Now, let's talk about Thai garlic. Thailand also produces a lot of garlic, which is of better quality than the Chinese garlic. It's got more flavor. But it is more expensive than the imported garlic. It is sold at 100 Baht/Kg.

    ---

The food factories would like to use 100% imported garlic because it's cheaper, but the government doesn't allow that, you have to use Thai garlic also. I figured the ratio would be 50:50.

So let's focus on the imported garlic first. 25 Tons of garlic every month. I import it, I peel it, and I sell it to the food factory.

As I mentioned before, the cost to run the peeling factory is about 10 Baht per kilo. So... let's do the math.

Raw material = 25 B/kg FOB... 30 B/Kg CIF... 40 B/Kg after peeling... add another 10 B/kg for whatever... so 50 Baht/kilo is the production cost. If I set my selling price at 70,

    25,000 x 50 = 1,250,000 B
    25,000 x 70 = 1,750,000 B
    -------------------------------
    500,000 B

You should see if you can export to France. The frogs probably go through millions of tons.

I'm looking to do nearly all of 50 tons from this factory, and peel some more on the side for retail sales.

    ---

The machine that was shown on the clip by Mr. Stillearly is a good example of my competitor. There are garlic peeling machines available in the market right now, but not like the one I'm going to have. I wish I could show you the pictures and videos but I think it's still classified. Don't want to leak too much when I've already leaked so much. My machine, do you know what it does with the peeled off skin? It sucks it into a furnace and burn it. It'd be a bitch to maintain the furnace but it's better than having tons of waste coming out of the system everyday.

    ---

How much garlic, can a person peel in one day? 100 kg? 200 kg?
And how many people does it take to peel 50,000 kg of garlic in one month?

    ---

But this is an unlikely scenario , so you see what I mean , the things I want to do are either Too hard , too dear or Illegal .
I think it can be arranged. To have you land cock first in a fat lady. If we can get everything right, we just might pull it off.

Anything else? Besides land in a fat lady cock first?

What else is it that you want to do, that is too hard, too dear, or illegal?

I know nothing about the market, but I do know that pealing garlic is a pain. I wouldn't want to do any quantity. All I can add is good luck with your endeavor.

Thank you Ian. I will need some luck. In my endeavor.

I think of every item as a stepping stone. To get to my destiny. May be one day I will realize that the stone I'm on is my destiny and I will be able to settle.

I understand you are giving out general numbers but they're very, very optimistic (TBH unbelievable) , I highly doubt a return on investment of 40% a month is possible.

I believe you're right. 40% is WAY TOO optimistic. As I gather more information, it will become more realistic and right before I pull the trigger, it will be clear.

But if it's not clear, I won't pull the trigger so don't worry at this stage, K. Paisan. I'm only at the beginning stage of scouting only. ^^

My current problem is I dumped my V-Strom on my foot and broke a bone. Now I have a swollen foot and I'm hobbling around like an old man. I spent 6 hours in the hospital waiting for x-rays and a doctor to read them. Turns out I had a previous broken bone and a dislocated toe in the same spot as well. When you visit a hospital you see a whole lot of people who are a whole lot worse off than yourself. I brought my tablet to pass the hours, but it turns out there is no internet in the hospital. Now they tell me I need a walking cast boot. Screw that. I'll fix one of my old shoes or boots instead.

I googled, 'V strom' and after looking at the picture I said to myself, 'Ouch... that must've hurt...'

Hope your foot heals quickly sir.

The previous bone break in a similar spot did not stop me from doing anything. I didn't even know it was broken. It was just sore. If I'm lucky I've got 10 years left of being alive. None of us get out of life without some scars. After tearing a rotator cuff in my shoulder in another motorbike accident I got an MRI done in Thailand to confirm it. It cost me 10,000 baht. You can't get an MRI in Canada unless you are a sports star or a politician. After I brought all the MRI photos and the report back to my Canadian doctor he told me it would be 6 months before I could see a specialist. I said screw that, I'll be back in Thailand by then. The shoulder gradually just fixed itself. I'm never going to be 19 again, so I'll just live with what ailments I have now. I'll recover okay and I usually heal fairly quickly.

I had considered that. 555 There is an old truism about riding motorbikes... "You've either fallen off one or you are GOING to fall off it." You just hope the landing isn't too bad.

I'm just using my father's old briar wood cane that mother bought for him in Scotland. First time it's been put to use since I inherited it.

I'm too much of a cheap Charlie to buy crutches or a walking cast for a simple fracture.

I live alone, so I have to take care of myself. But, if I was in Thailand I would milk the injury as long as I could with all the pretty ladies. 555
