    Fears and phobia

My wife has a fear of seagulls there is a generic word for this Ornithophobia. Also of any bird in a group. But especially any that will fly to her.

My fear is running out of power that is a battery or black out. When my phone is at 70% i need to charge. My house has 2 backup generators.

My children will tease me and show a low battery on their phone just to make me feel unconformable.

I have 8 charging points in my home for a phone and three in the car. I have four torches constantly on charge plus the generators will kick in if I lose electricity supply .

I don't care if my PC runs low though as it is charged every night and I like it to run out of power. It is like brushing my teeth at night I make sure all is plugged in and charged.

Strange subject but wonder if any one else has similar quirks????

Rats/mice give me the shivers , even on TV not in real life , hamsters/gerbils no problems though ...

heights , I can't stand anywhere near a window on a high floor , I was staying in the Luxor in Vegas and had to move to a lower floor as it was floor to ceiling glass, I can't go anywhere near a balcony after few floors up or stand by the door on a plane that's flying .....again even watching someone standing near the edge of something high on TV will make me feel dizzy and holding onto my armchair , I don't remember having issues when I was much younger , it only started in my 20's ...

I have a fear of rejection, It is common with people that are adopted at birth.

It really use to affect me when I was single going up to a random girls and talking with them. Going to LOS and the p4p areas got me over that issue..........55

The driving forces of human behavior are power and fear, IMO..

What you can control is "safe" and does not need to be feared, but that what you cannot control creates fear..
Most of these fears are relative and don't need a label.. No one likes going to the dentist or doctor, but you won't say you're sacred of it, just uncomfortable..
And some fears are normal, but still attract most people.. Heights, speed, fast sudden movement, unexpected loud sounds are scary, but amusement parks are full of them..

Most specified and phobic fears have a specific cause, which can be anything from a movie you watched, the fear from a parent they passed on to you or a mental / emotional trauma..

Dao's fear of birds is easy to explain.. Since they ate most of the birds in Thailand, large swarms of birds are uncommon, so seeing a large flock of birds coming towards you.. Maybe they want revenge? 555
Your fear of power outage is strange in this day and age.. And something a power-bank could fix? How do you feel in Thailand, where power outages are common?

For me, I have tried to confront as many fears as possible.. Went rock climbing to lose my fear of heights, go carting to feel more comfortable at high speed, walking long walks to be more comfortable with nature, solitude and stray dogs..
So now I only fear the health and well being of my children, failure of being able to take care of my responsibilities, fear of professionally misjudging a situation, and most of all, being held accountable of any mistakes.. No way to safely confront those fears..

Paulie is probably like me. Anything above a wife beater is pretty much a dress shirt. 555

We do refer to business shirts as dress shirts here as well though.

Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

I'm with Stillearly on this one!

Dress shirts to me mean black tie or white tie.

Reading the thread reminded me of a friend of mine at college who was always very smart. I asked him once if he owned a pair of jeans to which he replied "I had a black pair when I was at Eton but I never wore them"

    Different times!
