I used to have a two minute walk to work. Then a 15 minutes walk when we moved offices. Then I needed a bigger house so now have a half hour commute. Unlike Pete. Tourists aren't an issue 55

When I 1st started working on Wall St I lived on Staten Island and obviously worked in Manhattan

I'd take the Express bus after work and it would he packed that sometimes I'd have to stand
And of traffic it could take a good hour
Sometimes I'd literally fall asleep standing up and my knees would buckle 555

Never commuted on public transport, not that I would not its just we have generally crap public transport to support the urban sprawl...We are dependent on cars to a very high degree.

NYC is actually pretty good although the subways are real dirty

Actually I don't use it much but Vancouver is awesome
Buses come all the time and our Skytrain that goes to the airport from downtown is 25mins and really nice and clean

It's even more interesting on a motorbike. I get some funny looks from drivers when I ride in Vancouver like I do in Chiang Mai. 55555

Most people I know, ask did you take time off? Then how was your break/holidays. Haven't heard Merry christmas, happy holidays or any such thing for a long time.

Christmas isn't celebrated much in Thailand, except maybe private house parties. The girls in the bars might wear the token Santa hats, but that is about all.
