    St Paddy's Day

I think I asked this question before but besides Ireland does the rest of the world party thier asses off on St Paddy's Day?

We go crazy in the US

    Just carnage.....

I remember when I was in college we'd head into the city at like 7am
The whole campus would be passed out by 6-7pm that night 555

The funniest is when I started working in NYC
You'd get out of work and you just see people passed out in front of your office building 555

    People puking every where!

Just wondering if other countries party like that also???

Though Wales will celebrate winning the Grand Slam by beating Ireland in Cardiff on St Patrick's Day...
My only experience was in a pie making factory managing the gravy team

Would the UK have a lot of Irish living there?

    I'd imagine so, no?

Yeah they do... but I have never really noticed any big Paddy Day parties... everyone gets drunk on Friday and Saturdays anyway... so maybe it's lost in the noise...

I have yet to go to another country that has so many people who get rat-arsed every Friday and Saturday nights... every town centre in the country is full of loads of drunks of all ages every weekend... Europe and North America seem so civilised... 55

A little bit. Pubs always put up decorations and you see some people dressed up for it. People do get involved, but nothing spectacular.

No surprised about your 7-6 pm pass-outs. You lot couldn't hold your liquor to save your own grandmothers.

Sydney has always been been big on St Paddies day celebrations.
A lot of pubs go mad on the day.

My old man was born on St Paddies, his family Irish descendants.
It wasn't until after he died and we got a birth certificate for him that we found out his birthday was actually 2 days before he thought it was.
Seems his family decided to have a dual celebration for the day 55
I always have a pint of Guinness in his memory.

Not much anymore , I think its fading away as a celebration . TBH I hadn't heard anything about it this year until you mentioned it .

no parades or anything special here..but the Irish pubs usually try to pump it up...Green Guiness etc etc...it's usually a good day/night out in the Irish pubs...plenty of happy folk out enjoying themselves

Last year Ireland beat England in the 6 Nations Rugby to take out the Grand Slam on St Patrick's day...boy that was some celebration up at kelly's Bar (Lamai, Samui)..this year Ireland have a chance to win the 6N again but not the GS..as they were beaten in the first game of the tournament by england..who also have a chance to win it along with Wales..

They have a parade in Pattaya , not sure how it will go this year as it falls on a non drinking day ...

at at home a lot of pubs put up decorations, and lots of the Irish living there take the day off ( if it's a week day ) and go on the piss

i don't think much of a fuss was made in Ireland for a long time , but I think it's getting bigger with Parades and cultural events, I think to boast tourism as well as for the locals

Yeah Sydney does it big with the Irish pubs etc, even the English pubs get into it which I always thought of as odd.

You and I need to tee up a trip so we can get on the piss together. Not that I think I'd drink you under the table or anything, but just for the mayhem of drunk leading drunk.

I’ll be in Patts this St. Patrick’s day. I may have a Guinness or two but that’s about it. Leave the real celebrations for the Irish people in town. In the Uk it’s more of a money spinner for the Irish bars and the Guinness brand.

It really is mad in the US

This video gives a good idea

Beyond the parties, a lot of places will have cool Irish cultural traditions

    It's pretty fun

In the US, people identify themselves by where their family is from
And the way they grow up is completely different, in a lot of ways, than others

In my neighborhood, you were either Irish or Italian

Interesting isn't it. In NZ people almost want to hide where they are from. You want to appear as Kiwi as possible. Like a new beginning.
