    Electric Scooter rentals downtown

I think someone may have mentioned they have them in their downtown

I rented an electric Lime scooter today in downtown Denver

    It was awesome!

I wish they had them in Vancouver
    May buy one!

^they're proving a dangerous, sometimes fatal, convenience to riders in NZ.
    Cheers, Rob.
Lifes journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well-preserved body, but to skid in sideways totally worn out, shouting: holy s.h.i.t what a ride!

I saw one girl fall but to be honest everyone else was riding fine

I watched people riding them for a bit before I decided to rent one

They are really smooth and go at the perfect speed, IMO

Really not any harder than riding a bike

PS.....There were so many people riding them
PSS.....I hate the stupid plan of just leaving them anywhere
They should have to be left I certain spots near the curb

The girl I saw fall was no different than falling off a bike.
Actually I would say it's not as rough of a fall as when falling off a bike because you can get both legs out easier than a bike and also let go of the scooter very easy

I saw them in Adelaide. That exact green as well, so must be the same company. Do you have to "pedal" or do they have a wee engine in them?

And fuck the dimwits who are injuring themselves, we can't keep catering to the lowest common denominator. Just let natural selection sort em out. If someone's too fucking stupid for a scooter they shouldn't be breeding anyway.

You push it like a skate board for 1 or 2 steps to "kick start" it and then it has a small electric engine
    It actually rides really smooth

    I loved it
I would use it all the time if they were in Vancouver

LIME had a major flaw that saw many scooters locking up the brakes and throwing riders over the handle bars, some at quite high speeds. But the ongoing problem is use of these silent vehicles on footpaths where elderly ppl and children have been injured by irresponsible riders.

Last AKL visit I was trundling my suitcase down Shortland street in the cbd when a LIME flew past also going downhill .... Wonder what would have happened if I'd suddenly turned across his path ...?

Because the appeal is you can leave it one way

If I buy one I have lug it around
I wouldn't use it for "joy riding" although today was fun
I'd use it to get places.......

The solution is cutting into roads and thinking about permanently accommodating for these types of vehicles, but it'll always be easier for backward planners to just ban them instead.

Too many people ride them on footpaths... that seems to be the main issue...
