    Welcome .... 20 years since ....

So when the BG calls you "Papa" it might be true? ....555

Be interested to hear later what you thought was the same and what had changed since the early 90's.

    Enjoy...

Thanks to everyone for the welcome.
Hopefully Papa won't be literally true, as military we stopped in Pattaya before going into Cambodia & then on the way out it was standard military and they fucked up our trip home forcing an extanded stay in Pattaya.
As far as changes go I am hoping it's no worse than the changes in the rest of the world so long as the friendly Thai attitude and big smiles are still there I'll be happy. The thing I'm dreading is the mix of social media & bar girls. I think the phrase I might have to learn in Thai or at least Tinglish, " I'm old man no understand Facebook".

Enjoy your time on this forum, Mick. They seem to be a good bunch who make everyone welcome.

Unlike thaivisa, I haven't got myself on the moderators bad books. That tells me there are good quality people here who actually have a sense of humour.

Hey Mick, i am guessing you will know a good friend of mine, name of Graham .... in Townsville, he was engineer on all the chopper's and many aircraft, he is coming down next weekend for a wedding, he is from Mackay, and we are going to catch up for a beer.

He now works for the dept of aviation, so does all the inspections up in the north.

^ Like the rest of the world I expect a great deal of change since I was at Pattaya before & after a UN deployment into Cambodia, but I'm also expecting a lot to be the same.
So long as the friendly attitude that earned the name of Land of Smiles has not changed too drastically I'll be happy.
The one thing I'm dreading is the mix of bargirls and social media. I think I better learn very quickly to say "I'm old no understand facebook"
