    Welcome!

I had to Google Tenerife lol

Tell us about it and yourself if you get a chance. Sounds like an awesome place.

I am actually another Aussie. The flag is just where I would like to park a boat and money.

I actually lived in LOS from the ages of 5-12 as my parents worked there.

I picked up the language and learnt to read and write a little. I have lost a lot more than I can remember. Those years though I was extremely insulated from the big bad city of BKK and rightly so I guess.

I only went back 2 years ago. (Now mid 40ís BTW) It is not how I remember it. That said, the feelings of familiarity came through quickly and I have not been able to, but feel that I somehow belong there. At least part time.

Those feelings were naturally helped along by a Thai Girl.

Help please. All the threads I am reading are not in chronological order. Some are reversed and some posts are just everywhere. Like #1,2,7,13,12

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setting?

    Not to worry.

I have found the settings thanks.!!

That's been doing my head in since I joined. You'll figure it out. Worst thing is you get used to it, then lose your bearings again when visiting other forums lol

EDIT: Wait, there's a setting? *facepalm!*

EDIT: ahhh man, that is so much better. I'm an idiot! Thanks! hahah

WTTB the Board! I would not have known Tenerife either and I have been to the Canary Islands! Only for a Day though. Closer to Africa anyway.

Lived at Bang Na not far from Sukhumvit area.

The difference in the 30 odd years is hard to differentiate between the view of a child and the view of an adult and what has actually changed.

Everything seemed bigger as a child and not as busy. There are certainly more people and the one thing that stood out was more foreigners. Not just farang but Indians, Africans etc. The amount of cars. You were very envied to have a car.

Moving back to Australia was a big shock to me. School very different. Oh and did not have house staff. I think it was a bigger shock for my mother in that respect.

Yeh , I had kids in sport as a wave of South Africans hit Sydney about 20 years ago and signed their kids up in the same teams and got to know some of them.
The men said many things werent far different from their lives back in SA , they could follow rugby and cricket and have the bbq etc. They only complained about mowing and gardening .
But the ladies felt they had got a raw deal , one had never done laundry in her life , and all complained about the relentless cleaning and cooking and delivering and 'doing-it-yourself-to-save-money' as you had to in Sydney to service a mortgage.
Prbably the same for your Mum...

When you got to school in Aus , how was your English ? I mean was it appraised as normal , or did you need catch up work?
