    Chiang Rai prices

Something to chat about and build those post counts.
How does this compare with your place?

This was posted in TV about what could be bought for 1000 baht in Chiang Rai.

"30 bus rides from CR to Mae Sai

50 days of lunch at CR high school cafeteria

    100 banana tree seedlings

    30 Bougainvillea plants

3 or 4 days of workers labor

10 good meals in a wide variety of restaurants

15+ big beers in a choice of bars

83 big jugs of water delivered to your home

    5 massages

    15+ haircuts

    10 fillups of the motorbike

25+ plates of pad thai at the food courts.

6 all you can eat buffets at Rim Kok or Wiang Inn

    2 cases of big beers.

kilo upon kilo of fruits or veggies

almost two months of internet service"

You'd still get all the fruit down here , geez , theyre giving away malakaw and ma muang at the mooment , but you'd only get 5 haircuts...

Addit: My tg just laughed at me when I asked how much a Banana plant was. She said nobody ever pays for a banana plant around here.

2.4 cases of beer for me, otherwise spot on for the region.

Funny thing is, and I have no idea how it's done ... jungle drums/smoke signals perhaps ... but fruit, veggie and other pruce prices are virtually identical all over Thailand. We've taken fresh local produce to Isaan, 900km's away, only to see it in shops or markets at the same price as Chiang Mai.
    Cheers, Rob.

Well I ike the sound of Rim Kok and ...........well Im a bit worried about saying that actually .... 555

Lets say , I like the PRICES at Rim Kok and Wiang Inn for the buffet. Are they meaning a REAL buffet , or is it the same same as a 130 baht Issan BBQ for sale here , that they speak of?

It wouldn`t be Isaan type bbq but the usual type at those hotels. There`s really good sunday buffets here in CM,Holiday Inn one of the better ones at 700 baht,Siripanna 600.

Got "tut pom" for 50 baht a coupla days ago near home = 20/1000 baht

There's a daily buffet at the Rattanakosin hotel near Muang Mai, our land-lady took us there for lunch, @ 99 Bt per person. She was aghast, price used to be 79 Bt !

Buffet was extensive and included fish, meat and vegetarian curries + spag bol, salads and deserts. Table cloths, waiters hovering to clear dishes and live music ... place is packed daily with Thai business and army/police personnel.
    Cheers, Rob.

^Don't think they got your hint re increased post count.

There's a plethora of cheap eat places here and we've barely scratched the surface as we like home-cooked. Some of the small restaurants in local shopping centres are excellent, a cut above food-court quality yet under 100 Bt per person.
    Cheers, Rob.

Siripanna also has a 200 baht Businessman's Buffet Lunch, Mon to Fri.

I like the Sunday dim sum at the Duangtawan for 300 baht all you can eat and is great value for anyone that likes Chinese food. It`s the closest i`ve had here to the Chinese back home.

Service and views are good from the 22nd floor location.
