    G'day jacko

Depending on what your after but Phuket might disappoint you compared to Samui. Phuket is getting way over done IMO.

    Welcome

Hey Jacko,Why not just have a few nights in Patong to start and then move to the Quieter places like Karron or Kamala. Both not far from Patong and still fun to be had.

Mate it's LOS, you'll have a blast no matter what. I'm actually looking forward to my 3 nights in Patong before Lamai just to spice things up a little.

Depends on what you do and where you do it? For nightlife, if you want laid back do the bars on Nanai road. If you want the full on tourist experience do Bangla. Only way you are going to break the bank is if you get roped into spending money on girls. Which if money isn't an issue, don't worry about it. Lots of beautiful girls in Patong. For daytime time activities, hit the beach or a beach club, do a tour (if that's your thing). Certainly lots to see and do on Phuket.
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
