    Greetings.

Old fart here, been going to Thailand since the late 60's. Married to a Thai for over 28 years (but she lets me wander). Used to own a beer bar on the corner of Beach road and central road when they first opened. Sold it 2 months later !!
Probably going back out on my own for Songkran 2018, could be my last trip.

It used to kill me. I'm 6ft 4ins and lets say I'm big boned. Getting jammed in behind someone who puts their seat back the minute they sit in it was murder on the knees and made a trip to the loo a military excercise.

Now I say sod it and book Business. If you shop around there are deals or various methods to collect miles. Now I'm almost upset when I have to leave the bar on the Emirates A380. "We here already"

Cheesr Ozzguy. I lived in Perth back in the 60's. Was (and still am though retired) a pro Muso. Use to play with the Troupadors for a little while then went across to Melbourne and gigged with Doug Parkinson and Jeff st John then the Wild Cherries and also The Masters Apprentices, before I came back to the UK.

Welcome to the board. When did you own your bar? Some of us might have run into you at some point.

I had the bar at the end of the 70's it was on the corner of Beach Rd and Central road along with half a dozen other beer bars. It was initially called the Brit Bar then I sold it to a Finnish bloke for silly money and he renamed it the 'Give' Bar, silly name.

Well that counts me out, I wasn't even born then . A few blokes here might know it though.

Changes? Oh yes. From when 2nd rd was a dirt track. when the going rate was a couple of packs of Marlboro.
I think my fondest memories were sitting in the outside area of the Nipa lodge around 7PM most evenings before the nightly search.

Yeah I know what you mean, but I quite enjoy the total insanity of the whole thing, and it will probably be my last.

WTTB Gottsy, how did you find the forum?

I think I am done with Songkran for awhile...........and I actually like it
But logistically it can be a pain in the ass.........but more importantly the weather is just shit, so god damn hot

I am going for NYE this year, I haven't gone around that time of year in a long time

Yes sorry should have said Pattaya. I used to like Phuket back in the 70's before thethe Hooray Henries found it and ruined it. Thats when Phi Phi island was only open for 1 month a year.
Now I dont go back to Pattaya any more, to me the place is ruined though I DO realise that relative newbies to the place find it a paradise.
Ive always loved Bangkok and can always find something to do, even if its only chasing housewives in MBK
