    Soi 94 Hua Hin

I've been to HH a bunch of times but always stayed by the Hilton area

We rented a condo down past the big mall, Market Village
It is right across from soi 94, which seems pretty built up now with bars/restaurants more expat type area

has anyone ever hung out by soi94?

I'm not sure about soi 94 but if you like chicken there is a very good place near the train station. They only do chicken and serve up some of the best thai chicken dishes I have had. It looks like a traditional thai house.

    Anyone been there before?

    Details are:
Krua Kannikar. Over by the railway station, in Soi 88.. I think

Madam and I will be having a month or so down there... I know where soi 80 is and soi bintbaht (the main bar area)...

Thanks for that.... when we were last there, we stayed up near the train station.. so we walked everywhere... I like soi 80, for a quiet drink, plenty of bars there... got me rooted how they make a quid tho.... The bars in main bar area are fun as well.... and surprisingly, there are no rip off prices in the bars, which is a nice change I reckon.

^ i think they have a great bar area in HH.

I'm just not really into the place,HH, as i discount the beach of any use, other than for walking away from the donkey sh1t part and it's been really stinking hot on my 5-6 trips there.

HH reminds me of Blackpool or one of those other skanky seaside towns in England....apart from a sh!tty beach (literally as Moo points out) with brown murkey unswimmable water and MILFy beer bars its an OK place....a sleepy town with lots of great, inexpensive food options...if I was 75 yo aqnd didn't enjoy swimming in the sea I might be happy there too like the other expats 555

Looking for things to do i decided to head up to Khao Hin Lek Fai viewpoint just above the Royal Golf course and HH.
It's quite well laid out and a nice place to spend and hour or 2.

The air was clear and cool up there,so nice views over HH and further north to Petchaburi.

Mrs M and I just did our first trip to Hua Hin and would have to agree with most of the information in this thread.
Firstly the beaches are nothing much - the beaches of Pattaya look more inviting.
Secondly, there are plenty of places to eat and the food is quite good and not over priced.
Thirdly, in the words of Dave01, I to am "rooted" as to how the bars there make any money as I walked the entire length of Soi Bintabaht, the main bar area, several times one afternoon and did not see a single punter in any one of a dozen or so bars.

Basically Hua Hin is strung out on one major road except in its central area where there is a second road closer to the beach joined together by a variety of Sois that are centred around the Hilton Hotel. Next time we would stay closer to this area as our hotel, located up the main road at Soi 10 was too far out of town. It was a good hotel but not the place to stay without your own transport.

Something about the place reminded me of Penang, probably the wealth of food choices and the apparent absence of any night life scene. The sort of place you go for a few days to get up late for breakfast, have a swim in the pool and spend you evenings wandering around the night markets.

In short the last place I would have spent a minute of my time in my mongering days.

    Enjoy...
