Lucifer's in WS may be shut down

Pattaya Nightclub Guards Arrested For Beating Foreign Tourists

CHONBURI Police have arrested a security guard from a well-known nightclub on Pattaya's Walking Street for reportedly beating two Israeli tourists.

Eli Aurheem, 31, and his brother Dekel Aurheem, 27, were attacked by five or six security guards at Lucifer Pub on the night of 8 June, police say.

One of the suspects, Witthaya Chaiyasak, admitted to assaulting the brothers in a police press conference yesterday. According to Mr. Witthaya, the older Israeli visited Lucifer Pub without ordering any drinks and responded "aggressively" when a waitress asked him to buy one.

Mr. Witthaya said he and other security guards approached Mr. Aurheem and instructed him to leave the nightclub, but he refused, leading to a scuffle with the security guards. Mr. Witthaya admitted to punching Mr. Aurheem in the face several times before police officers spotted the incident and intervened.

Pol.Col. Suphatee Boonkrong said Mr. Aurheem's brother, Dekel, tried to help but was beaten up by the guards as well.

"My supervisors are very interested in this case," Pol.Col. Suphatee told reporters. "They have ordered me to strictly prosecute the violators."

According to Pol.Col. Suphatee, the tourist has been charged with the small offence of inciting a fight while Mr. Witthaya and the other security guards, who are still on the run, have been charged with physical assault leading to injury.

Following the incident, police raided the pub and uncovered a number of other violations of law, including underage customers, evidence of narcotic use, and an expired nightclub license, Pol.Col. Suphatee said. He added that the police have advised the Governor of Chonburi province to permanently shut down the establishment as a punishment.

"I insist that the police have proceeded in accordance with legal steps. We don't care about mafia influence," Pol.Col. Suphatee claimed.

He also said the police will convene a meeting with owners of every nightclub in Pattaya to put an end to physical assaults against tourists by nightclub staff.

"If this news reached foreign countries, it will severely affect the atmosphere of tourism," the officer explained.

I have been to Lucifers as a matter of choice every time I've been to Patts and have had a great time.
I've never ever been hassled and always felt safe there. If they close them down as some sort of knee jerk reaction it will be a real shame. These "Israelis" could have been in any one of a dozen other clubs and got the same treatment.
Is this going to be the "New face of Pattaya"? Because if it is, I won't be that interested in going there anymore.

i was curious why the neon sign was out when i walked by it last night. I was taking a photo and quickly noticed the missing sign which seems to be a part of many pics you see of walking street. This would explain it.

i love the comment about not caring about the mafia. Hopefully, this guy stays safe.

Hardly knee jerk... they got them on other violations.

Following the incident, police raided the pub and uncovered a number of other violations of law, including underage customers, evidence of narcotic use, and an expired nightclub license.

It's one thing to escort someone out of a club and totally another thing to put a potential customer in the hospital (for being a twat).

Kneee jerk would be an impromptu raid on all establishments and shutting them down regardless of who "protects them."

If I was other bar owners, I'd be making sure your house is in order.... blind eyes might be seeing more than they should, 5555

Listen Mr Smiley, I cannot comment on what they are doing from day to day and I would venture to say that neither can you. What I can comment on is my experience of being in their club on numerous occasions over time OK?
I don't fucking care what seems to be now. I would prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt (If you don't mind) and will still take your opinion into account OK?

Sorry... didn't mean to put your comments (about Lucifer's) on the spot. My experience with how security (in general) can take it too far (because they can without any fear of reprisals), is that anything can happen. When you bear witness to a guy getting thrown out of a dance club (Tai Pan) head first into a tuk-tuk, curb stomped then taken into an alley and gone to town by 4-5 security guards and random Thais and somehow not make it into the Phuket Gazette. How is that safe?

Or a guy getting chased down Soi Sansabai by tuk-tuk drivers and when he's running from them getting punched, kicked and clawed at by every Thai person in sight. Even a few years a go Hollywood security got in the news for roughing up tourists and making them bleed... then (themselves) getting raided and having weapons confiscated.

With the current climate, military junta, not giving a fuck about how things are done in the past... what makes you think they won't stop bars from being open after whatever time, or ignoring failed drug tests and blaming them on faulty test kits and just collecting a "fine" so a knee jerk reaction, imo, would be applying a blanket sweep of everyone not just Lucifer's.

A conspiracy would be that competitor/rival tipped off the police that Lucifer's had some outstanding violations to get them taken out.

But atm, it seems the police have politely requested that security staff of Pattaya bars not beat a customer (or their mates) to an inch of his (their) life(s) for a perceived slight.

And what if someone else comes on here and comments on their own experience of getting beat up there. How old are you btw? Learn some manners OK?

Smiley - I remember a few years ago I was walking out of Hollywood and saw 3 guards just run straight into this 1 farang guy. No idea what he did but the reaction seemed excessive. I've seen similar things at spicey too.

I would say that almost any of us that have been to Patts has gone there.
I, like C1 have each time and have never had any trouble, the drink girls never pushed you and the general atmosphere was always good. I, having worked clubs for so many years, can't help myself and always do a circuit and suss things out. Then I relax.

I wasn't there but reading the report, it seems the guy was rude or rough to the drink girls and for that he was asked to leave, he wouldn't. Now there is a certain level of physicality allowed to eject someone and that is directly related to what they are doing. I'm not for a min condoning the sort of stuff Mr Smiley is talking about but if a guy is fighting and resisting then you have to respond, if you get walked on by a patron, you don't have a job tomorrow.

On the other things, In almost any nightclub in any country, you would find some underage and some evidence of narcotics.
As for the out of date license...well I guess that's a fineable offense.

It seems all the cops and officials are looking to win brownie points with the new Junta and try to get it publicized.
Who knows, maybe the building owner wants them closed so he can put it out to lease and get all the key money again??

If I was a bar owner, I would be double checking I had everything in place, at least for the rest of this year.

I think the "rules" have changed since May 22... and maybe, blokes running bars/gogo's need to take that into account.

As for the bouncers in THAILAND in general, it seems to me, they are just waiting for the chance to take someone's head off... Obviously, there are some good guys amongst them, but I reckon they may well be in a minority...

Interestingly, if I read the story right, the bouncers were still on the run from the law : "According to Pol.Col. Suphatee, the tourist has been charged with the small offence of inciting a fight while Mr. Witthaya and the other security guards, who are still on the run, have been charged with physical assault leading to injury."

So they must have given this bloke a real touch up, and in my view, that is out of order, and if they have done that, they deserve what they get... I get really tired of 4 or more blokes, cowards really, thinking it's ok to belt the living sh1t outta of a bloke, just because they can. No one should defend that cowardly behaviour.... A blue one on one is fine... The same happens in OZ, with 'hero" bouncers, so in my view, it isn't just Thaicentric... Just must be something in the makeup of the average bouncer.

The spell checker on this site really needs to learn how to spell BTW.... or is it my computer?

Just to clear up a couple of things.
I was a bit too personal with Mr Smiley and it wasn't my intention to be that way. Mr S, my apologies.
Yes, I know about thai on Farang violence I have also seen it first hand and it is sickening. Nobody wants to see anyone tossed onto the pavement and kicked senseless in front of them, or indeed anything like it.
These two tourists were pulled up for not playing by the rules which are clear to anyone. Buying a drink is required or you cannot stay. Anyone knows that. If you then arc up about it when asked to leave trouble will follow.
What exactly went down after that should be a matter for reflection by all involved.
However, I think JC1's assessment is likely to be more accurate for people managing a mainstream long term nightclub.
That is why I believe in giving them at least some credibility.
However in this instance the police are asking the governor to permanently close the place as a "Punishment".
This is the "Knee jerk" reaction part and as a response to a single incident is completely over the top.

You can find most of that in a lot of venues.

I've personally never had any issues and would never behave in any way or put myself in any situation that would lead to my head being curb stomped. The majority of that is due to arrogant d*ck heads not respecting a host country and it's people, no matter how unfair and selfish their rules sometimes may be. If ever in any bad situation I'd just smile and drop a few baht and leave.

I have a hard time feeling sympathetic toward most people who get themselves hurt overseas.

Agree and not just idiot customers, there are many security guards, as now called, pumped full of steroids, so idiots on drugs or drunk, and bouncers on roids and you get a very high ranking youtube vid if you can film it.
Now this isn't just Thailand, and it isn't anything new. Surfers paradise on the Gold Coast is/was world known for it.
I saw it back as far as 1980 when I used to fill in there on occasions and the guys working were mostly Gym Junkies employed for their physic not their brains.
