    Live music venues: Patong

Any recommendations for good live music venues in Patong?

Personally I like Pinoy and his heavy metal cover band ((Rock City) but maybe not to everyone's taste.

Red Hot Club is alright for a drink and some live music. It's usually pretty busy. Off Bangla, there might be some good spots by the Banana Disco but it's been a while since I've ventured down that way at night. Not sure if Scruffy Murphy's still has a band playing at night but from what I remember it was pretty good.

I might have to do a night where I go for the music and not the girls, 555

Top of Bangla Rd on the corner where the intersection is to cross the street to walk up Soi Sansabai. Rock City is across the street if you want to change venues. I recommend ear plugs for Rock City as it can be a bit loud.

Red Hot Club use to be the old Margarita Bar.

Live music wasn`t ever a strong point of Patong nightlife from my experience.

Without starting an us vs them thread. Both Pattaya and Chiang Mai are well served with live music venues.
Thanks to your recomendations I spent a couple of great evenings at Boy's Blues bar in the Night Market CM.
And there are more than enough good rock band playing in Patts to keep anyone satisfied.
A bit of time at The Blues Factory is always on my agenda when in Patts.

anyone else find that live music venues always have the sound up too high? Why do they do that? Is it because they are deaf?

It's often so loud I can't make out the lyrics... 555

If it is strictly a music venue, then I do not mind if it is loud..
But at a bar I do find that often the music can be overpowering....

What i hate, and it happens in Walking Street, as well as other area's, is the attempt to be louder and overpower, the music from the bar/GoGo across the soi or road.

So you end up not being able to enjoy or understand either.

Enjoyed a glass and music at Hollywood Beach Bar on Sawatdirak, just down from Salathai Resort, also just around the corner, on Thawewong Rd direction with traffic, in Finnigans Wake. Best for me was the Rocking Angeles in Old Phuket Town Yaowarat Rd and then to find them playing at the Hard Rock Cafe on a Thursday night.
