Patong Hotel. GF with car parking.

I'll be heading to Patong on 11thOctober for a few nights. I'll be renting a pick-up so need somewhere with parking.

Somewhere central and guest friendly. A pool would be nice but not necessary. Budget around 1200- 2000 baht.

Salathai was mentioned in another thread but looks like it has no car parking.

    Any suggestions?

    Try the Expat.

There`s some parking on the right next to where Faulty Towers use to be.

Can`t copy a link to Google street view for some reason.

Stayed at Salathai in May and they would move my Hertz car and return it each time I parked in front; they took it to the sister hotel nearby, did not seem to be a problem and they were not looking for a tip.

thanks Lew. I just had a look at the Expat soi on street view. Looks like plenty of parking space but also looks ripe for re-development. I wonder how old the pics are. You know how quickly things can change in LOS.

Thanks mechtime. Salathai gets good reviews and somewhere to park the car is my only concern. I won't be using it much. Probably not at all unless it's pissing with rain, so parking it somewhere else won't be too much of a problem.

Might shoot off an email to both places and see what happens.

    This is correct.
Across the road is also the equally nice Royal Phanwadee that definitely has parking on site.
The trouble is both have gone up over the years.
The car park behind Chang Club on upper San Sabai is a good secure one and a short walk to the usual and newer places along there as well.

There IS a lot of work going on in Soi Expat , so I think mailing them is a good idea.

There has been a lot of bars built down Soi Sunset ( another dreamer - mostly empty/unleased) - I don't know how close to the Expat they are.
Best email them re. parking, if that's your choice

Here's the email reply from Salathai:

    Dear Mr. Colin ,

Thank you very much for your mail.
Pleased to inform you that there is car parking available and subject to availability.
However we have our sister hotel named The Sea Patong. It's located in Patong as well and just only 3 minutes walk from hotel to the beach and car parking also provided.

Should you have any further questions please do feel free to contact us at anytime.

    Kind regards,
    Sunny.

They're quoting 2000 baht / night on their website but I've found it for 1590 on Sawadee.com including complimentary mini bar WiFi and breakfast.
Sounds like a reasonable deal to me.

But most probably would have liked a tip all the same

What about the parking underneath the Kee Resort , is that available for cars to non residents , I remember WP and Nels parked their bikes there.

^ it is open to public parking for a fee.

I use to use it in rainy season when it first opened along with the roof over SSD you could have a whole night out there without getting wet.
Certainly right on the action if you also stay at the Kee hotel.

Nora., Ref reply from Salathai about alternative hotel:-
Yes I got the same reply and was confused as to whether they were passing me off but stuck to my booking and as said, they moved the rental and I enjoyed my saty.
Yes Arliss, on my last day gave the little security Guy a well deserved tip!

I found the email ambiguous and thought maybe they were suggesting I book at the Sea Patong.
Your previous comments @ #3 helped me interpret it as, I can stay at Salathai and park at Sea Patong.

Have booked Salathai for 11-15 Oct.
