Phuket, want a quiet beach? Go for a ride

Went for a ride yesterday and came across this beach, just a few minutes off the island.
Literally 3 people on it as far as the eye could see.
Compares with some photo's of Nai Thon I took at Xmas 2003, we were the only people on the beach. Hard to believe when I drove through yesterday.

Nice pics. Where abouts is this beach then? Does it have a name?

Yes, Nai Thon is getting busy now. Even a year or two back it was free from the crowds. Now it has several hotels, including one that was suspected of being on National Park land, along with several others in the vicinity. Funny how the talk of knocking them down has all gone quiet.

There are still a few quiet, or not too busy beaches on Phuket Island, but there are many more to be found further up the Andaman Coast. The roads are more hospitable too, making for a much more pleasant time finding them on a pair of wheels.

Take route 402 Thepkassatri Rd over the Sarasin Bridge and turn left on the first sealed road (3006) you come to.
It has the Aleenta Resort and Hot Water Springs resort on the road. Just follow it north, the by roads are great off it, real old style villages, rubber plantations and a great pier out into the ocean.

The beach on Phuket I really like is the beach near the airport..
I went there a couple of years back in march/april... Hoping to see the hatching turtle eggs which should be there..
Was told I was to late for the baby turtles, but still enjoyed the walk, and the shady "forest" south of the airport..

Mind you, I am not a lay on the beach person, but it's a good walk..
Really enjoyed the kick of standing against the fence at the end of the runway, with planes flying 10 meters over your head..
Strange.. You know that they will fly way over you, but still.. gives some adrenalin...555

The best beach I've seen on Phuket is probably paradise (pics attached) I haven't gone to many mind so not sure where it ranks vs others on the island. One beach I'm going to try make an effort to check up it is Freedom. Apparently you need to catch a long tail boat from either Patong or north Karon beach? Ya Nui as well.

Ao Sane at Nai Harn is a nice one for snorkeling with some coral and always plenty of fish.

I think I remember seeing a sign for Ban Pilai, it really is a nice part of Thailand.

Mai Kaeo is the airport beach and it is lovely and goes for miles too but there have been so many loud Russians on the beaches around Patong and Nai Thon I thought I would try and escape them.

Love the food at Paradise but always too many people on the beach for us. Often ride out for lunch as it is a very pleasant ride and go somewhere else for the beach afterwards. They know us so well after many years they tell us what we are going to order. Lovely people and it is good to see them doing so well even if it is too crowded for us.

Of course we do, no sane person swims in soggy clothes unless they have to.
Actually we had a wander up there a couple of times several years ago, before the Tsunami I think but never found any indication of it.
We'll have a look again when we come back in a couple of months.
Anyone else with info on it and exactly which part?

(bet that wasn't the answer you expected 555)

Some of the quiet beach are used like a nudist beach. This too, the neighbour beach of freedom beach near patong, very nice. Or the 2 small neighbour beach of freedom beach.
