    Travel between Patong and Karon

Ok, Iím staying in Patong and my mate is in Karon. Is the transport still run/fixed by the local mafia? Just thinking of options of getting between the 2 times (either night or day) and what I should be paying.

    Anyone know the latest info?

    TIA

As they charge 200 baht for a short journey , Iím guessing about 400 baht per trip, might be 300 if you are doing it daytime

is Grab taxi or Uber in Phuket

I have used this fine looking vehicle more than once in previous years - 30 baht per passenger then - the Patong to Kata Noi bus run would be the one you want. I assume it is still running.

It was around 200 baht for a local red tuk-tuk trip from Karon to Patong when I first used it - the price has probably doubled and some since then - the taxi mafia is part of the reason I seldom go near Phuket these days....

You could rent a scoot, about 250tb per day. Its a nice ride from Patong down to the south end. A scoot will give you lots of options.

Or better still rent a BG that has her own....The first question you should ask a BG is dose she have a bike...55

I thought the taxi mafia shot the driver of that bus service a few years ago?
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by a sick mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end!

As I understand to go by bus to Karon/Kata from Patong (which is just down the coast) you have to go to Phuket town first?

I think it's like 500-600 baht with mafia tuk-tuk now. Last time I took the trip I found a Grab discount code which brought the price down to like 150 baht. Look out for those.

Get a motorcycle. Much cheaper and easy to get back and forth. Actually a very nice ride with some amazing views. Just don’t drink and ride ....

Probably because the powerful Karon tuk tuk mafia wouldn't let them to pick up a fare back to Patong.
So you're paying for both ways.

This is the crux of the whole taxi pricing throughout Phuket.
The prices wont go down until these local dynasties are permanently banished (a pipedream, I know 555!)

Just an update re prices. Took a motorbike taxi to Karon (North Karon so not that far from Bangla) last night for 300 Bht. Taxi quoted 400. No movement.

    Taxi back (3am +) was 500.

Staying local the next 2 nights!

Yeah, last time Mrs M and I were in Phuket we stayed a week on the hill outside Kamala and it was easier and cheaper to stay the night at Bill's SBH than look for transport back there after midnight.
