    Phuket to Hong Kong

I have a connecting flight(in BKK) from Phuket to Hong Kong

Will I go through customs in Phuket instead of BKK?

And if so..............how bad/good is Phuket customs?

    Thanks

I’m sure you can choose ... treat the HKT - BKK as a domestic , or if you want go through transit in Bangkok , Phuket used to be a nightmare to arrive from international, not sure about leaving

Both direct flights got in at about 8pm and I am meeting one of my closest friends that night

By the time I got to my hotel and settled and out it would have been 10-10:30pm

I don't mind connecting in BKK and having a couple of beers

And this flights gets me in at 2pm so don't have to rush to meet my friend at a decent hour

The direct flight wss actually cheaper!!

My guess is that it will be in Bkk that you have to clear Immigration and Customs.

HKT to BKK is just a domestic flight.

Depends on how many other flights are there at the same time , but Phukets new International airport works very well.

Took a Cathay Dragon (Previously Dragon Air) direct HKT - HKG, I believe they have 2 flights daily. One arrives early but have to leave for airport real early.

Only had one and left at about

I'm happy with an early flight and connection in BKK

Have some beers at BKK and get in Hong Kong early afternoon

The direct flight on Thai was actually cheaper too

Yea, Thai service is better than Cathay Dragon.

Had really weird experience since Cathay Dragon took over destination from KUL to HKG. Very rushed food service and after that totally no service anymore until ready to land.

When are you going to HKG? I am going to HKG on the 18th Dec

Then wife and I are in Patong Jan1-6

Pretty much what Chob said. You'll actually go thru Customs in Hong Kong. HKT to BKK is just a domestic flight, at Swampy you'll need to get yourself to International check-in then go thru Immigration and Passport Control before you get 'air side', where the departure lounges are. If it's the same airline or two partner airlines for both flights you should be able to check your bags all the way thru, otherwise you may need to collect your bags at BKK and check them in again.

I've actually checked in through to Vancouver from Samui before on partner airlines

So I wonder if will be the same because I am flying with Thai all the way
It will suck to have to leave the airport and go through that BS immigration like in BKK

    Thanks for your info

You need to ask if you are ticketed right through on a "connecting flight"..if so you can clear IMM in HKT and your bags will go through for both flights from HKT to HKG....I would say there is a good chance of this seeing you are flying with the same company (Thai) on both legs

If not it will be domestic to BKK, collect your bags and check-in again for your HKG flight

If you fly with Thai from Phuket to Hongkong via BKK you will go through immigration in Phuket they will put a sticker on your shirt and you will be a transit passenger in BKK only one more security then you can have your beer(s).
I use to come 2 hours before take off. Have a nice flight and holiday.

And you fly in peak season maybe you need 2.5 hours. I fly 2 time this year from HKT International in May and October and work nice. The new terminal is ok but not so nice for a beer if you not have access to a lounge.
