    Phuket Town

Chob has talked a lot about how they have refurbished a part of Phuket Town

I've always loved Phuket Town so when I heard they have been refurbishing it, I wanted to check it out

Wow, it felt like I was in one of those cool older towns in Latin America

And I was BLOWN AWAY at how many tourists were walking around
But that really didn't take away from the atmosphere

One very bizarre thing is there is a bunch of young, seemingly well off, Chinese that dress to the nines and were all doing full on photos shoots
    I'm talking in the hundreds
But they weren't your typical pain in the ass Chinese bus brigade
    And they weren't bothersome
I was just intrigued by it all

    Here are some pics

My favourite was Soi Romanee and there was a noodle shop that the locals went to to get Hokkien Noodles , they have transformed the place by getting rid of the overhead cables

the architecture is sino-portuguese and sino-colonial so yeah, the portuguese, spanish and chinese influences are pretty strong...

apart from the shophouse there are some beautiful mansions that remain as private homes of the very wealthy old school mining and business families...occasionally they have open days for some of these..they are spectacular and well worth a visit on those days

a few pics here...the last one is almost Spanish Mission in style

^They're so well maintained, on the surface anyway. Good to see their value is appreciated.

Unfortunately there are some over there that have been let run into direpair..I really hope that the Provincial Govt steps in and saves them...they are an essential element in Phuket's History

Bacwaan! Your captured view is very beautiful. It think Its show the Spanish history, and sino-portuguese and sino-colonial styl is very amazing in views. I really like it. I hope to explore Spanish mission will remain very informative, but I think Spanish mission basic purpose of religious parley. Am I right?

I have some great memories of Phuket town. Brought a good few times by my favourite bg and remember eating street food from a market on a park bench. Going to markets and browsing all the stalls while being entertained by her. I remember going to give her a kiss and she said 'joe, here not same Patong. Phuket town cannot jup because people not like'. It was said in such a sincere way that I learned a lot from her eyes. I could see she was hoping I understood and she was so happy when she knew I did. Those little moments will be with me forever.

These all reminded me of my trip to the Sea Gypsy village. Past through Phuket Town and thought it was nice, but those people really fascinated me.
