    They said it wouldn't last

I woke up this morning (always a good sign at my age) and realised it was our Anniversary.
Noi and I had been together for 6 years! There is a 26 year age difference.
We are not married - no need - and no kids and thinking back we've only had a couple of real arguments/sulks - she has a very even temperament and I've mellowed!
Time goes fast when you're having fun.
I'm cooking a turkey dinner because I want some cold meat for sangos 555!
(she's been out with the family three times in the past week and cooks Thai every day for me and the Isaan sewing slaves - family - we make curtains).

She asked when we get marry - I said I'll think again at 10 years!

Happy anniversary Zab....and condolences to your lady

EVER wondered why time flies faster the older you get?

Christmas is in three weeks. Where did the year go?

As a child, it seemed like forever until Christmas arrived but as you get older, it feels like the last Christmas has only just passed before the next one is approaching.

So why does time seem to fly so much faster as you age?

Psychology Professor Ronald E. Riggio explains one of the theories of why time flies is that those novel and first-time experiences you have as a child slow time perception but repetition of events seems to make them go faster.

“As a child, who has experienced few Christmases, each one brings anticipation and a certain novelty. For the parents (and especially the grandparents) it’s all too familiar — the same old, same old,” he explains on a psychology blog.
Experts say time flies faster as you get older because the novelty of new experience wear

Experts say time flies faster as you get older because the novelty of new experience wears off.

Have you got a theory on time perception? Tell us in the comments below or tweet us @gcbulletin

He said another theory was that not every memory is stored as a distinct event and that only key memories were accessible.

An example was the first time you drive somewhere it seems like it takes forever but as you repeat the drive over and over, time flies by and you don’t recall a specific trip unless there’s an event like a long traffic jam or accident.

“Routine makes time go faster, unique and memorable events slow down time,” he says.

“Although there is comfort in routine, it does make time fly. So, if you want to “slow down” time, and make your Christmases (or your every day) last longer, change the routine. Create unique experiences for each one.”

Bond University assistant psychology professor Dr Peta Stapleton said online lifestyles are also often the reason people are left wondering where the time went.

“It is about the competing demands in our daily life, especially as technology is all encompassing” she said

“We do not have the time to switch off any more.”

Our internal representation of time is also a factor according to Dr Stapleton.

“Everyone has a natural response to how long we think a task will take to complete,” she said.

“You are either an ‘in-time’ person where you are in the present moment and get things done quickly,” she said

“Or you are a ‘through-time’ person, someone who has the philosophy that it does not matter how long it will take to get things done.”

She suggests a counterintuitive approach to actively switch off technology and take some time out.

“If we can schedule time out in our diaries we will experience more calm in our life and feel more rested and relaxed,” she said

“After I drop-off my kids sometimes I drive to work in dead silence so I have time to clear my head.”

“Switching off gives us back that sense of time and can bring us back to our present moment.”

I don't know you but congratulations on another anniversary.

As for time... when I worked in Perth there was a late night program on called Big Ideas.
One night this professor was on talking about time and perception.

Basically he said something like this. .
When we are 5 a year is 20% of our life. When we are 50 a year is 2% of our life.
As we grow older our perception of time as a percentage of our life becomes compressed. . Hence, 1 year when we are 50 is a small amount of our total life and seems to go very fast.
It doesn't in reality go faster it only feels like it
Experts : People who know more and more about less and less until they know everything about nothing.
