But you also can't compare prices here and Thailand
Prices here have to factor is much higher costs

So if you want Thai food then you have to cover the restaurants costs, that's the bottom line
I understand that and didn't care because I was treating a friend who wanted a change from our usual $10 two for one Burger King meal. My Croatian friend wanted to try some Thai food.

Now I have plenty of spare time I have decided to make my next trip for 28 days in Thailand. 30thOctober until 26th November. It will give me a chance to visit a few different places with the view of staying longer next year. I also wanted to be around for Loy Krathong which I believe is 22nd Nov.

Official day is Friday the 23rd...

But it depends on where you are as to what is going on...In Chiang Mai it lasts three days. The first day is the lantern festival on the 21st, the second day is the full moon day (22nd). On all three days there are parades that pass through Thapae Road.

In phuket and on Samui the lantern festival is shown as the 23rd on my calender...

so check on google what date it will be for where you will be...

Barring any big problems I intend to be in Chiang Mai starting any time after the first week of November, but I haven't booked my tickets yet.

Thanks Bacwaan, I will do that for sure. I get the impression it’s quite a big event for the On the Thai calendar.

It's probably my fav out of all the Thai festivals. nowhere near as full on crazy as Songkran and has a certain beauty to it with all the nice kratongs and lanterns floating all round the place.

Only downside is all the pollution they create 55

Well it's the 21st till the 30th Sept for me in Patong then a few nights in Bangkok before I'm off to Rayong and Koh Chang, back home 14th Oct. Flying with friends, so its Emirates Economy for me. Be a shock to the system, as I've flown business for my last few visits. Lets see how I squeeze my 6ft 4" frame into their seats. My girth has expanded a bit since my last trip as well. Lets hope I don't need the dreaded seatbelt extender....

Starting to make a plan for my 4 week stay. I am meeting up with a lady in Bangkok for the first 4 days. She is a friend of a Thai lady restaurant owner in England. She offered to put me up in her apartment but its very basic with no A/C so I booked a hotel nearby.
Its in Ratchada near a large night market. A couple of miles north of Soi Cowboy. She is taking 4 days off from her job to be with me. Not a great looker from the pictures I have seen but she seems very nice.
I fancy another rail journey this time so i may take a train to the north after Bangkok.

Tez, I'm sure you can pack a lot into just 4 days.
This will be my longest stay so far. Normally have 10 nights.

Pretty much cut and dried holiday. You know you won't have time for anything else so you don't bother. Eat, drink, go nuts, pass out, rinse n' repeat.

I'm in Thailand in 3 weeks from Oct 19 to Oct 30th...........11 days is a short trip for me but I prefer shorter holidays these days

3 days in BKK at Sheraton by the river
    The likely:
    3 days Krabi
2 days Khao Sok National Park
    3 day Patong

and 6 hours in Tokyo on the way there! That will be interesting, heading to a city Kamata that is 20mins from Haneda by train. A bunch of bars and Izakayas
