How Did You Come To Live In Thailand

    Guest Interview with Valerie Wond
Many foreigners have chosen and are still choosing Thailand to be their permanent homes. Something happens to many people the day they set foot in the land of smiles and the place seems to take some shifting from the system. If it can be shifted at all. Some people wander back and forth whenever they can for a system top up before returning to their homeland and some just remain lock, stock and barrel. So, how did you come to live in Thailand?

Great read as always Trevor and a special thanks to Val for sharing her story.... It's nice to know a bit about her after seeing her daily posts on FB, she's a bit more than the crazy dog lady (no offence Val) 555.

OK - It'll be a gradual transition from live in Aus - visit LOS often. To Live in LOS - Visit Aus occasionally

The 50/50 point will be reached in about 18 months.........................I hope.

I got rid of all the useless encumbrances and returned here to live in 12 days - in 2008.

I agree with that entirely. I love going home to Thailand and extracting the great things about my country but I also love living in Australia which has its own beauty.
Life in Thailand isnt so ordered as in Australia thats for sure which is why many foreigners love living there. The fear/and or dislike of Big Brother is a very big minus for many but no where is perfect. Its what suits us best at any given time in our lives.

There is more to come from Val today guys. I posted in the Thailand dreamers section '' Tips for adjusting to life in Thialand''. We have a good conversation in this part. The thing I like about Val is she doesn't try and complicate matters and lives to do the things she enjoys. I guess that's where we all try to get to really. Thanks for all the comments.

Yep, Im hooked!! I just love living here in Isaan. The reason Im hooked is a mixture of things, the people, culture, weather, food and cost of living. But the thing I love most is my Thai family. I live in a village near Mukdahan North east Thailand. I met Noi in Bangkok and was smitten, she has been so easy to live with. We have been married for eleven years and have never had a serious argument. How nice. Isaan is Paradise for me and Ive been here almost twelve years and will stay for the full term.
