I have been going there for years now as has Ozguy and they have a fairly high occupancy rate. A lot seem to be returnees.
They also do shared rooms for back packers.. And are close to just about everything.

Generally they have good reviews on the booking sites, so they must be doing something right.
BTW mom and Pop travel quite a bit themselves, so they must be making some money 555
This is actually in my wife's village..........about 15mins from her relative's
Fantastic and run by a middle aged Thai couple and their son and daughter.
The father worked in the US and just a pleasure staying there
We'd even see the father at the market in the morning doing the shopping......

Hello again i am back to sweden since 10 days and want to thanks for the advice i got.
I arrive BKK early sunday morning 22 november toke the shuttle-bus to Don Mueng airport
toke about one hour. Fly with AA to Udon Thani toke one hour.
I stay at @Udon hotel good location ok for 1000 bth. My GF arrive we go out eating then
down to UD town for a beer. I like that place.
Next day little sightsing in UT. Day after we go visit the village it is about 80 km east
of UT close to Ban Dung.

Wednesday we fly with Nok Air to CM we arrive for Loy Kratong we have to wait one
hour for a taxi. Lots of people and we have problem to find hotel but find one for a
night. We go and look at the Loy Kratong festival down the iron bridge.

Next day we change hotel and book a tour to Doi Inthanon. Most of the time we
stay around Loi Kroh Road and the market. Go to DU no people there Stu was on
holiday. Doi Inthanon nothing special for me but have to do tirak like the tempels
and flowers. More tempels to see next day in the old city.

My thoughts was to go from CM to Samui or Phuket. I had a flight from Swampy
to catch and thought it would be more easy from Phuket. After my bad experince
from a bad hotel in CM i booked a little bigger hotel in Patong then i use to.
We stay in Thara Patong Beach and Resort good location close to the beach and
Bangla. The hotel feel little old but nice pools and garden even if go to the beach
most days. We had breakfast buffe it was ok but not special but nice staff.
Many korean people and some russian and few farang like my tirak say.

In the evening we go eat at the fishrestaurant redchair and bluechair.
And then some beer or a drink at Black Horse and Kangaroo Bar.

Meet Iltis at Bangla and we decide to see at Lucys bar (Little Devil?)
there was also Satewe and some more whose name i forgot (sorry).

One night we go to Kamala Beach. We had dinner at Popeye Restaurant
(are they new owners?). We eat Som Tum Kung and Som Tum Fish
and Shrimp Cake very tasty. We walk around to the beach road and
try to find Dodger place Natascha just when we thoght we was wrong
i see Chob and there was Dodger Pete and Alice too.
I had a few drinks and speak with Chob and had fun.
Then back to Patong my tirak easly get carsick so this time to
    very windy roads to Patong.

We had a nice stay 19 days in Patong only one day with big rain.
Then we fly to BKK me for go to sweden and tirak to work in BKK
harvest season is over in Isaan.

Once again thanks for the good advice.

And Happy New Year to you all.
    Rolf.

Lots of rain in the last few days. Stopped now. Normally a short shower most days at this time of year.

I don't mind the afternoon rain in Thailand, chances are most of us will be sitting in a bar most afternoons. I lime watching those big downpours while I'm nice and dry with a beer in my hand.

I don't mind it one bit either. Plus it cleans the streets.
