Anyone want Chiang Mai spice/paste packs? Good stuff, not full of MSG.
I'm looking at doing an on-line shop as there is so much good product here.

I never thought my wife could cook at all. We never cooked a meal in BKK.

Thanks Annie, I have seen many recipe sites but not so good. This one looks great and the coupel I have looked like "real Thai" food rather then the stuff they make in the western world.

Yes they have plenty of products too but I think they are based in America so importing things may be expensive.

More info Rob you have a market here...

Me and another TH have been talking about greenhouses and the potential for local markets with Thai herbs etc..

Probaly couldnt beat the prices but to get fresh Thai herbs here through Aqis???

And unless my memory lets me down Chiang Mai is still inside the Triangle?

You should be able to buy all seeds or seedlings locally, they're available, if you look around.

I'm told Xmas time is a good period to post stuff like seed packets into Aus

We've registered a domain name and started building a website but one hurdle is shipping costs @ ~ AUD$20/1kg Gets expensive for houseware/giftware items.

Foodstuff gets expensive unless sent in bulk, eg: shipping $40/5kgs of coffee beans @ $110 = $150.

Bulk mixed orders might work eg: Oolong tea, Arabica coffee and Thai spice packs but too specialised and low volume.

Ill mention it to the Isaan Mafia tonight.

BTW Rob is there a large expat community up there, have you run across an American named Bill and his Wife Klom? They live in a small village NE of you but bill does some casual teaching in Chiang Mai, I have no idea how big the place is.....

Yep Rob Isaan Mafia tried it from Sisaket then BKK. Have to buy and fill a container is only way.

Renting space in a short load still no good. So I think at this stage it looks like go big or go home... Sorry don't want to rain on your good idea.

Your competition will be the chinese....

    Cheers Mate

little bit of a funny story
my wife coming to Vancouver for 1st time. i am excited that she can cook thai meals all the time
2nd night we go out and get super drunk, come home and she cooks and passes out, i eat her food and it is horrible!
i wake up the next morning and get to thinking that in 5 years she never cooked for me! in LOS, her mom or aunts always cooked. I am thinking, "oh crap, she can't cook!"
she wakes up and asks if i ate her food because she so drink she make a mistake!

thankfully she is a great cook
but that 1st time i may have questioned that
