Never seen anything like it, the word phiranahs springs to mind.
But they hit the ice creame bar after all that!
When I go to mookatah I make sure I get my money's worth. I remember when mookatah was 100 baht per person. Now it is closer to 300 baht. When I take the girls out for mookatah we go to a smaller place that charges per meat plate and it usually costs me about 200 baht each or less.

All kinds of places around Thammasat in Ringsit were 199
    Mookata, BBQ and etc.....

I don't know how they make money

Our table ate at least 100 shrimp
How much must they be alone?

There is just no way all of us didn't eat more than 199baht of food.
    Than add on their expenses......

I went to the Greek place on Saturday night and it turned out to be a buffet. Big selection and the only thing I ended up liking was some pastry and ice cream for desert.

    Buffets really are for animals.

The only one I've ever liked was a Thai one in Phuket where you cook your own, but then that's more a hot pot thing than a buffet.

Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

    Yes they do
Places around Thammasat campus don't serve beer

Only the few select actual bars serve beer
Restaurants do not I guess so students don't drink too much

Could be a UnI by Uni thing
We asked out niece yesterday if the same at Chula and she said yes

But she also doesn't drink so may not take note that much

But it was definitely the case around Thammasat

That is a weird looking watermelon. It looks more like a squash.

I've been watching my Thai lady friends make fruit smoothies for so many years that I decided to make some for myself. I dug out my old mixer and added pink lemonade, a chopped up banana including the skin, a few scoops of ice cream and a whole bunch of frozen fruit I had: strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. Chopping the banana skin into a pulp was the biggest problem, but I had heard that banana skin has a lot of goodness that usually gets thrown away.

I got 3 full glasses of the fruit smoothy and have to admit it was as good as any I've ever tasted.

Maybe the lemonade and ice cream helped neutralise that ...

doesn't sound healthy at all , more like a desert

Aren't most "smoothies" a desert? Just like a milkshake, but with a fruit flavour.

In this case I was just experimenting because I hadn't had a smoothie since I left Thailand last March.

I figure that when you are almost 80 then you've already done most of the damage to your body. Why not spend your few remaining years just enjoying yourself.

I think he was thinking of the sweetened lemonade and the ice cream addition. 5555

I know that most of the smoothies you get in Thailand all have some sweetener in them... unless you specifically ask not.

I have two western meals a week when I'm in Thailand. Each one is the day after an evening NFL match. I go to a local sports bar/restaurant and watch the game "live" while I have a western style breakfast.
