    Your favourite places at home

I thought it be fun to see where people like to eat at home. Not so much when going out to dinner but more everyday stuff
I am lucky that we have everything in Vancouver right outside our door

    Guu Japanese Izakaya
This and the other place really make you feel like you are in Tokyo
Fun place to drink beer and eat their specials

here is a good blog on them

no mucking around, they make 2-3 same sandwiches everyday and then one rotating special
this is something Vancouver didn't have before, a good mom and pop place

Geez those pics make me hungry ...

Guu Japanese Izakaya, looks like its doing a good trade, with the reserved table signs and the bar stool eating, all full up, same same for the aussie sandwich dudes.

Really nice have all those good eateries close by, but is it a concern on the wallet ?? eating out is so expensive here, even just buying some lunch !!

OK i will try and find some pics, probably wont be up to the class of yours...55555 this is Berowra you know, on the outer most edge of Sydney, almost bogan, hickville town hahaa
The only thing that will stop you from fulfilling your dreams is you.

relatively for Vancouver, the Japanese Izakya's and Charcoal houses are decently priced
Guu is a line up to get in but we only go late night, 11pm, after my wife finished work, so can usually get a seat at the bar

Vancouver is really amazing for diversity of food
on one little stretch a block from my apartment is:

Beard Papa, authentic Japanese creme puff
Indian Curry where the curries are laid out and you choose 2, rice and naan bread
    our famous Japa Dog!
    Shawarma shop
    Vietnamese Ban Mai sandwich place
    Japanese noodle shop

all in a row in one block

Vancouver reminds me of a wealthy Auckland. Great diversity, hand-picked girls from around the world and a fantastic backdrop... I think we may have walked past one or two of those eating places but they were full? But for me to be able to go for a run right from down town to around Stanley Park via a seaside walk/cycle way was just the clincher... food and drink was pretty much UK city prices I thought.
My only experience was in a pie making factory managing the gravy team

Within a couple of Ks I have "Sugar cane" Pick your own and run.... No dining in.

The biggest is "Road kill", great variety.
Regular menu is Kangaroo, Lizard, Water Fowl, Crow, Brown Snake and occasionally Goanna!!

Only a short drive...1k.. is the seafood area, the marina, here it is all interactive dining.
    Choices are:

Fish, catch and keep, if there is any left after the sharks take their cut. (They tax hard).

Oysters natural, you get to keep the scars after the infections from the cuts heal.

Mud Crab, sometimes you get a 2 for 1 deal, your so busy trying to avoid loosing a finger to the one you have bailed up under a rock, you miss the one behind you that latches onto your calf. Running off to the pot of boiling water with one attached to your finger and one on your calf certainly helps work up a healthy appetite.

Then there's "Croc Corner", not a place for the faint heated, but it show's your good at multitasking, you can come home with a meal, a pair of shoes, a handbag, a wallet
and a jacket, all in the one trip. 55555555

The Yanchep Inn. Bit of a drive but a good friend lives there so I find myself eating there quite often. I love the place. Had a nice lazy Saturday afternoon there last week.

They serve beautiful oysters, sometimes the size of your fist. I always start with a dozen natural and either have one of their famous burgers or steak sandwiches if it's during the day or order a proper meal if we're there for dinner.

Nice, relaxing views during the day.

Some of the local residents are as fuck lazy as I am when I'm there.

And there's a cave there, which has been furnished. Sometimes people have weddings or other get togethers in it.

Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

Good pub Bacon, last time I was up there they had a great band on in the Afternoon in the garden.

My summer local about 10 mins drive from my home is the Breakwater Tavern at the Hillarys Marina.

Top spot on the water, great views and plenty of eye candy to keep you occupied. Is a 2 story joint that is normally packed at the weekends and not so bad during the week. Good food served there as well
