    Thai cooking school

While in Pattaya last month I went to the Happy Chef Thai Cooking School. Its a small family business in central Pattaya which gives you the chance to cook 4 dishes from a list of 20.
You select the dishes you want to cook and the family members go off and collect the fresh goods. Then you are guided through the preparation and cooking of each dish, stopping to eat each one in turn.
Its ideal if you want to learn the basics, but make sure you go there on an empty stomach.

    Sounds great
Do you go to the market with them?
I think that is an important part of the process

No we didn't. I think I would have enjoyed that too. They did explain each ingredient to us and what they add to the taste of each dish. We also had to smell and taste all the different herbs etc before cooking.

    I'd like to do this....

Then I thought I can just have my wife teach me..........her cooking is really good.
Then I though all she will do is yell at me the whole time..............so I am back thinking a Thai cooking class would be a good idea 555

We were all given a print out booklet of the 20 recipes to take with us. Also a couple of their advertising leaflets to leave with our hotel. The hotel I stayed at, The Baraquda, were very interested in my visit to the school. I think they have had a few people ask them about this type of activity, so now they will point them in the right direction. The cooking school is also on Trip advisor and they also have their own Facebook page.

Was that previously the Dusit D2 , if so how was it ? The only thing that put me off trying it was the location of the pool , I think you would lose the sun quite early .

Thats correct SE. Very nice hotel, right on 2nd road. Big rooms with mirrored walls and a bed in the middle of the room. Breakfast was good but I didn't eat there in the evenings. The pool area does lose the sun later in the afternoons, but that suits me. The staff are really friendly and helpful and the hotel is very girl friendly. I would stay there again if the price was right.
