Shouldn't do but if something happens and you get delayed you could find yourself in trouble.

thats what i am thinking if its not expensive i will probably get one
You can always get an extension when you are in Thailand if required , but getting a visa beforehand does make life easier
if 30 days i wouldn't bother as if more time needed can either pay the overstay or extend at an immigration office. neither likely though, would be my guess if you have a flight booked.

I've passed immigration with a couple of hours to go before an over stay. No issue
Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
my thoughts exactly and i swear the visa some one said is 40 quid and the overstay fine can be 400/20k baht ill have a look at there website.
overstay is 500 baht/day. not a big deal.

Just got my 1st ''O' , sent postal order which in itself cost about £12, my postage on top and the extra £10 for the Embassy to post back but now I have it 555
From my above post:- so far on each of the 2 trips made with the 'O' I have been given 90 days stay, though I only stay less than 60; the Visa states "enter before 25 Oct 2016", does that mean if I make another trip arriving 24 Oct 2016 they will still give me 90 days from then (meaning it is a last entry date to be still entitled to 90 days even though I first entered 15 Nov 2015) ? Thanks in advance.
^ the visa should have "used" stamped or written on it? and should only be good for the one entry.

If it is a multi entry O visa (sounds like it is) the answer to your question is a resounding yes.
The enter before date, is when the visa is valid for entry at a port. After that date the visa is dead. So come in on the 24th,and get another 90 days permission to stay.. Come in after the 24th and the visa is useless.
Life is short..... and love is always over in the morning.
yeah,if it's a multiple entry O,good for 12 months it should be fine.
heard of plenty of recent times being issued with a single entry O that is only good for one entry and 90 days.
