My prospective junior reporter will be in Bangkok soon (Bangers for a night next Friday week) I remain hopeful that he may sacrifice some time for research for the common good....
I've found the bars towards Suk Rd to be livelier during the day. In saying that, it can still cost a heap drinking outside Happy Hour. There's a couple or more on 6 and one in the alleyway to 8. Often passed by many but can provide some fun if the mood is up.

...and fall into line with the other venues around the corner on the neon alley. In other words, no more birthday suits.

He's not talking about the Cowboy I know.... but things may be different at the moment...

    Part 2 - November 2016

Well, the neon lights are off, the clothes are on and the music down to half volume.... but if you are not having a good time then you are probably dead....

Got there just after 9pm so just a bit late for any Happy Hour prices
First stop Suzi Wongs, the crowded stage full of girls in black skirts and crop tops and little bare flesh. Beer was 180 baht.
Next was Long Gun with the girls in what you could call Hawaiian outfits. Again little bare flesh but the hypnotic rhythm of a show and our one drink and move on rule was already gone.
    Beers were 170 baht.

Finally breaking free and the next stop Dollhouse. The conservative outfits were black and more like g-strings and bras but the bar fairly quiet still. No table dancing at all in the upstairs area.
Beers were 170 baht and the first Lady drink for the night disappeared in a single 150 baht gulp of watery tequila.

Next stop was Rawhide and this old favourite of mine did not disappoint.
The beach wear type outfits the most revealing of any bar for the night but still providing full coverage on top and just glimpses of bare cheeks under skirt downstairs.
Beer was the now standard 170 baht and the lady drink came as a Baccardi breezer that lasted an hour or more and made the 230 baht price tag a non-issue.

Frankly just imagine what you'd expect Soi Cowboy to look like during a partial power failure and you have it....

^ or 2 mins after they have been told a major raid is on the way...been there under those circumstances a few times....even when about 20 cops/military have walked in the joint and full lights go on...girls scurrying everywhere...its a bit of a downer to say the least

hopefully a reasonable "biz as usual" commonsense approach will prevail after the 14th...as announced

Am I the only one that finds this toned down version of Thailand's Entertainment areas appealing? My fav nights have been public holidays when bars are supposed to be closed...

We both must be getting old, DP. I'm the same and prefer the lazy scene more. I haven't been to Soi Cowboy in close to 20 years when it was just a few shack bars along the railway tracks. I think my last visit to Nana plaza was at least 10 years ago.

I have experienced that in a walking street a go go. Never seen tops appear from nowhere and go on so fast. 2 minutes after they walked out it was business as usual.

^I remember one of the joints on Soi Seadragon actually had a police siren that went off in the bar when the spotter at the end of the Soi saw the cops coming.

Often what you think is a garter is just clothing rolled up on one leg .... can do on an arm as well

Kind of like me when the hole in the toe of my sock gets so big that it slides up my leg. Maybe I need new socks. 555
