This story makes me angry. He jumped a few days ago - not Valentines day, nothing to do with it. The media in Australia hardly ever reports on Aussies killing themselves at home or over seas - why is this one so special? Because he was a spurned lover and it was close enough to Valentines day to put some ridiculous spin on it. Any media outlet carrying this story (and there is more then one today) should hang their head in shame.

    Grrrr - rant over.

If they mentioned it as a valentines day drama, they have removed it now - no mention of valentines day in article

The SMH had it in their headline for a while this morning but has now been changed. This still manage to mention it in the article though. 'Broken-hearted' Australian dies in Thai balcony fall

1m is minimum height for a balcony railing in Australia compared with ~800mm average here. It's all too easy for an intoxicated person to over-balance and is quite a frequent occurrence in Patong/Pattaya.

In this instance it sounds like the deceased was climbing across balconies. Sad story either way and I agree with MeMock, typical media sensationalism in poor taste.
    Cheers, Rob.

Surprised that a Newspaper would sensationalise a headline, never heard of that before &&&

Years ago when the Burnie murders were big in Perth, it was mentioned that at one time he was a promising apprentice Jockey, which was an out and out load of crap, as he is only job in the stable was to pick it up. The trainer he worked with IIRC took the paper to task about writing that.
