    Article with no substance again

Another article out in todays press that does not give Thailand a great tourist wrap.

As usual just basic facts, and no break up of information re Tourist deaths or maybe Expat deaths related to illness or just popping there clogs from old age

Australian travellers face greatest arrest risk in the US, higher chance of death in Thailand

Last year 111 Aussies died in Thailand, accounting for the largest number of deaths in one country, followed by The Philippines, 68, Greece, 50, and Indonesia 48 with 904 Aussies passing away all up.

Surely Aussie-centric funeral parlours must be a niche market soon?

Without a breakdown of how they died there is no substance to the article..
Accidents vs crime vs natural causes? Given the number of retirees in LOS it would not be unreasonable to see a few pass away naturally each year..

Do they say how many of them are going with a smile on their face?

    Spot on Peter.
Sensationalist reporting designed to sell a rubbish newspaper! Crap like this type is usually attributed to a novice journalist rather than a seasoned old hack.
    Cheers, Rob.

    What only 111 ?

Australia is far more dangerous as we have killed 2433 overseas visitors in the past seven years - including at least 25 children. Thats 347 tourists a year, making Thailand look pretty safe, i would bet more tourists travel there then here a year as well.

Edit: Very little data on total tourist deaths inThailand a year, but its the roads that are the problem. They did have 22 million visitors last year which is huge compared to Australia's 5.8 million, so it would be interesting to know some data on the total deaths to put it in some context with the volume travelling there.

Although Thailand, Sudan or skiing a slope in Queenstown, if your numbers up its up.
