PHUKET: An Australian man who passed out drunk during his flight to Phuket was carried off the plane still unconscious and rushed to hospital, according to a local news report.

Police said Christopher Lazarus Boubis, 39, later regained consciousness in the emergency ward at Thalang Hospital, but immediately went on a rampage through the facility, the Phuket Gazette reported.

"He was shouting and verbally abusing staff, scaring them, before he collapsed again unconscious in an emergency treatment room," a nurse told the Gazette.

As the Australian awoke, she said, he seemed dazed and confused. "He even groped one of the female staff."

Officers from the Thalang police station arrived soon after to take Mr Boubis into custody. He was later released and escorted by police to his hotel in Patong.

"No charges were brought against him as no complaints were filed against him and there was no damage to any property," said Lt Chatree Chuwichian.

However, Lt Chatree urged tourists to be more responsible while on holiday.

"We understand people come here to have a good time, but please be careful about how much alcohol you drink. If you get too drunk, you could easily harm yourself or others," he said.

He might be disappointed to find out the bars are closed for tonight because of election voting in Phuket. I can imagine he will tear it up tomorrow night, 555

^ saw sign in 7/11 here today - said no alcohol sales from 6pm today 29 March until midnight Sunday 30 March.
Was on another thread recently - think bars often reopen from 6-ish on the Sunday ban days?

Richard Barrow's site has this: note 6pm closing on Anzac Day 25 April also:

The alcohol ban hours are as follows -

6 p.m. on Saturday 29th March until midnight on Sunday 30th March 2014

In related news, there will be a by-election for the Patong Mayor in Phuket on Saturday 26th April 2014. So, there will be an alcohol ban in this beach resort city from Friday night at 6 p.m. to midnight on the day of the election.

Surely the airline has some questions to answer.
If he was that bad why was he served so much booze? if he was drunk before getting on the plane why was he allowed on?

We sure are setting great public relations when it comes to us flying and Asia. Two weeks ago 3 young guys on AA flying Bkk to GC. went rampant they had mixed Yaba with Vodka before boarding.
Even the pilot came to try and control them they were running around the isles etc.
Eventually they got them and handcuffed them, one by one. Great experience for all on the flight, many Thai coming on holiday etc.
Got taken to court and got fine and community service but were from Grafton NSW so Qld can't enforce the service order.

    Amazing..., only in Thailand...
Piss drunk on the plane, passed out in your underwear on arrival, transported to hospital where you become abusive and grope the female staff. So what can the police do but transport you to your hotel.

I hope this wonderful ambassador for Our country has the remaining brain cells to apologize to the airline, the hospital staff, the friendly police, and hotel staff before behaving his sorry ass for the next couple of weeks...!

One more thing...text yr mum and tell her you love her.....555

Not always the airlines fault..in fact getting alcohol out of them is getting harder than ever..
Some people just bring the duty free on board and guzzle it all off in a few hours and hang the consequences..
    Been there, seen that.
