KHAO LAK----What is the best location for accommodations? Any suggestions?

I will be heading back to Patong next January. I will be wanting to stay a couple of nights in Khao Lak. Please let me know what areas are suggested(Beachfront).Any suggestions on accommodations would be great!

Stayed at Khao Lak Green Beach Resort, Best Bungalows a couple of times.

It's right on the beach and a short walk to restaurants and bars.

Guys if you want to spend a few nights there with a view to getting 2 days worth of snorkeling done would you have to waste a day just getting there? I'm making the assumption that even once you get there most day trips start quite early in the morning. So to get 2 full day trips in are you looking at 3 nights there or can it be done in 2?

Thanks ......have you been on many tours out of this area? If so what tours would you recommend?

I have dived the pinnacle just off it many times.....haven't really been on land there with the exception of the beach for about 30 minutes...I don't think you can spend the night there...at least couldn't a few years back as its national park....it has stunningly clear azure waters and white white sand....and is famous for the mantas that can be found just offshore....and if you get real lucky perhaps even a whale shark

Sounds good nels. I'm not much of a diver myself but would probably still like to go there for some snorkeling.
