The odd thing is that it might actually be the skinny dipping time. It all depends on the situation, and there can't be a logical explanation for it happening.

Neither. It stems from cultural isolation and hence a lack of awareness about global norms in decorum. It's the same thing that makes Chinese people spit on planes. They just don't know any better. Eeeeeven though not spitting on a plane should just be common sense...

Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

Good point, Bacon. It's the same thing with what we call "odd behaviour" with the way Thais ride or drive in traffic.

Nothing quite like a bit of stereotyping... Something that most of us are guilty of to some degree...

BTW is that a stereotypical statement?

There wooden shoe design was copied and made out of rubber and is now a popular commodity everywhere.

It is a little strange to judge peoples levels of rudeness, not by the standards of the country these people originate from, but based upon American/Western standards instead

Part of me agrees with you, but..

Female circumcision (cliterectomy) should be judged by Somalian standards?
Being gay in Uganda by local standards?
Stoning a woman for adultery by Sharia laws?
Girl going to school in Pakistan..etc..

    I don't know....some things are just rude
Nels says there is a sign in Russian saying the pool is private but they ignore it

I was on a flight home, with 3 middle aged Japanese next to me, i was on the end.
Their friend kept coming over and actually leaning over me, blocking my tv and physically leaning on me a bit
It doesn't matter what your social norms are.....a middle aged person should be aware you shouldn't do that

Japanese were the politest people I've ever met , I made a mistake and got on an earlier bullet train , so I didn't have a seat , a guy in his 50's tried to give me his seat ... when I politely refused , he stood with me and chatted for the journey

At the GP , they were incredibly polite and restrained , even when Sato was doing well ( 3rd I think at the time ) afterwards they were very orderly when queuing for the train and they took all their rubbish home with them when the bins were full

That is precisely why we shouldn't generalize... even though it is hard not to. I still try to take every one I meet at face value. It is how they treat me and others around them that counts most. I don't care what colour they are, what religion they aspire to, or how much money they have.

But do you stick your fingers in dykes?

I guess, being a doctor, you probably do occasionally.

Well I'm here in Lamia and I'll say this, until they fuck off I won't be coming back anytime soon. I don't care how many excuses and cultural anomilies you can make for them, being loud, obnoxious and never saying thank you to a gracious Thai host is unforgivable...they invade bars, they invade massage places, they plant smoke butts in the sand...lamia feels like Syria right now...
