    Car Rentals

Hi Guys , I am returning to LOS in April, and this time I am wanting to rent a car for the trip.
I will be arriving on April 12 (i know a bad time to land there as is start of Songkran ) .
Any recommendations and experiences good and bad on companies would be appreciated !

Landing at Swampy , so I'm guessing I should look at the companies that operate from there , or are they more expensive ?
What kind of Insurance should i take out ?

Had good results with Hertz last two times from Swampy.
Booked on internet and the car was ready and waiting. Near new car.
Return was quick and easy with no hassles. The rate was much cheaper then Budget for the same car. (Always Check all though).
Availability could be limited unless you book early and Roads will be some kind of hell at Songkran though..
And where the hell was Biggles.....?....when you needed him last Saturday....?

I rented from Hertz also in Sathorn and returned to Surat Thani Airport......because in had the car for more than 6-7 days there was no charge for one way rental.
Take out the full insurance which is not that much money.
I had a small accident and they didn't even blink.....they sent an insurance guy out to the scene and didn't even question me when I returned it.

It was really a good experience

Also, I drove from BKK to Suphan Buri to Kanchanburi to Hua Hin all during Songkran last year and traffic was not an issue

Hertz Paragon, now a member of their Fun Club and get benifits and lower rate, have taken cars from CNX and Pattaya and returned to Swampy which is real easy, they meet you (phone ahead) at arrivals gate 8, I top the petrol up at Suvarnabhumi 3 Road just down from the public transport centre and then join the ramp again; also once they dropped the car off at my hotel in Chiang Mai which saved me a taxi back to the airport. I take some CD's and an mp3 clip as I do some miles and radio reception limited; I have a seperate annual excess insurance which costs about 50/- but I think Avis, on line, gave an inclusive rate when I have booked them some time back.

Hertz, no problems. Pre book the GPS if needed as they don't seem to have too many.
