Haven't got a licence with me. What's BiB presence like on Samui?

you would be extremely unlucky to be pulled over for a licence check here...and if you did it would cost you 400 baht (on the spot instant fine) and you are on your way again...I would certainly have no problem riding around without one if on holiday...its the price of a couple of lady drinks...

helmet check is much more likely if riding on the main road or in Chaweng...so best to wear one (apart from the obvious safety factor)...they only pull over the riders without one...but if you get pulled for no helmet and you have no licence to show you may well get a double wammy fine of 2 x 400 baht..

No license does mean no insurance...

You can usually insure for riding m/c taxis online as an "add-on" to your existing policy....

Sweet. I’ll pick one up when I get there. I always wear a helmet anyway cause I’m not a confident rider and I like my head.
