Patong's not a bad place to spend some time

I know we all have some things that we find negative about Thailand but there is lot to enjoy

Sitting in Patong tonight trying to decide where we want to go for dinner, do we want Thai el cheapo (but delicious), Thai attempted European (different but delicious, Italian, Indian, top of the line European it's all here.

Then what, sit in a bar and watch amazingly attractive girls dressed in the loveliest of outfits, looking sexy as hell?

And I don't have to even wear a jacket, short sleeves are fine the temperature is great.

I'm not sure where else has as much choice and fun but if you have any suggestions tell us

Its always been my view that Patong is a great party and beach holiday venue
So much so I sometimes wish I didnt live nearby , so I could feel the excitement I used to feel when the taxi tooted its horn as we crossed the Kathu Hill and rolled on down and into party town!
( I dunno why , but that doesnt happen when I visit Pats - so I rarely go there , if at all )

Yet to see what Samui has to offer (going in 6 weeks) but I love patong. Great selection of places to eat and accessibility to beaches/islands plus shipping. It's not perfect though. The taxi and tuk tuk prices are way too high for a 3rd world country. I pay less short distances in the UK.

The total build up of Patong has made have no desire to ever go back
Honestly, even the heavier traffic on the main street in Kamala had turned me off from there and I loved Kamala

I liked my time in Phuket and maybe one day I will go back for nostalgia purposes but I am also a Samui convert.
Just a much more beachy vibe.

But honestly......as long as someone is happy in Patong or where ever more power to them .

I know the build up in Patong is over the top and silly but it has a day and night time vibrancy we love.

The traffic is chaotic but fun on a bike.

Haven't been to Samui for about 7 years, then it was far too quiet for us,
Could be OK when we get older, but it seemed like a rest home to us.

I have that exact feel still now after 10-12 trips.
Pattaya doesn't give me that arrival feel - i'm usually dreading having to hail a taxi down from the van drop point after coming from the baan.

agree thats there's nothing quite like arriving in Patong , always used to get really excited trundling up that hill , a few beeps of the horn as you pass the chinese temple , then over the top and your almost there ...

Yes. Way out of control and then throw into the mix under the radar tactics to try get extra drinks. I think if you don't spend all your evenings in Tiger then it's not too bad. Problem is the other sois generally suck.

If cheap beer was my remit it wouldn't be a problem. It's cheap beer that's gotten more expensive in the places with the *****.

I like Wetherspoons... makes me feel young... 55

Depends on the town though... St Albans had a Wetherspoons... and all the under 21s used to hang out there... often with their dads... 55
My only experience was in a pie making factory managing the gravy team
