Can't find the list of restricted drugs at the moment , but things like codeine are on the list.

I took a supply with me , along with a note from my Dr. saying they were mine and what they were prescribed for ... I kept them in my hold luggage , but can't see there would be issues in hand luggage

Usually prescription drugs are no problem, providing you have the prescription or Pharmacy information with it..
However, if some drugs are illegal in the country you are travelling to, you can not take them, prescribed or not..

I presume you refer to post-exposure prophylaxis when you say PEP, and I do not think there is anything unlawful about these drugs...
However, there is a list of questions coming up with any immigration officer on the behavioral part... I would put them in my checked in luggage..

As said get a letter from your Doc and make sure you leave them in the original packaging. Don't take them out of the box to save room etc.

I had not heard of those drugs , so googled them Can PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) stop me getting HIV? - Health questions - NHS Choices , seems a bit extreme taking them on holiday , if the OP is that concerned maybe he should abstain completely ..

Pharmacies can issue a prescription form of all prescribed drugs.. Takes about 10 minutes and is at least some official form with name and drugs prescribed..

Both Cocodamol and Lyrica are prescription drugs.. Cocodamol contains Codeine, which is a morphine derivate and therefor illegal substance unless prescribed..
As SE says, you probably will not get checked at all.. But better safe than sorry...

I was dumb enough to bring co-codamol to Thailand on my early trips before I clocked it. I suspect loads of tourists are unaware and do it... I wonder how many get caught?

If you phone his doc and explain I'm sure they can leave a letter for you to pick up at the counter.

Other than that pack them in his checked in bag, and if pulled up on it plead ignorance. DON'T get nervous about it or you will stand out like dog balls.

Good luck...fingers crossed for you, ....you probably will sail thru without being stopped. I have never even had to open a bag.

PS when you get into you motel, keep the drugs in the safe, out of sight and possible theft.
You don't want a cleaner lifting them or telling a cop.

the only time i ever was the first bag on the baggage carousel was at HKT one time when i flew in there late at night.

headed towards the custom check point and about to exit like i usually do and the old thai guy there walked towards me and motioned that he wanted my bag while keeping close eye contact with me.
i stopped and let him have it without batting an eyelid or showing any emotion.
he kinda pretended to lift it by the handle to see how heavy it was while looking me in the eye again and then handing back to me and telling me to go.

they are just looking for suspicious people and grabbing them.
in Oz a flag for them is people who have been out of the country for 2 or more years.

What a ball ache. If you have problems with rubbers why not just pop a Viagra instead!? A lot less hassle.
