Two days in a row about dusk , and a light shower in the afternoon before that.
    Am I seeing a ( welcome ) pattern?
Last night more sustained and heavier.... its a great respite from the ever warming late afternoons and I hope it does this right thru Songkram !

( Don get your foot wet in that stuff Bwi-arn !)

I've walked through flood water at the tail end of Sansabai once. Well... Attempted. I was knee deep before all sorts of debris started to hit me in the legs. I promptly turned around and walked out.
Not one shred of evidence supports the notion that life is serious.

4-5 years ago, as I left it started to pour with rain (fun ride was had to the airport). get home and looking on the internet and saw pictures of Rat Tits Road under about 2 feet of water. Could not believe I only walked down it about 15-18 hours earlier.Later in the day, a young guy sitting near Ocean Plazza, got zapped by a power point that was under a metal plate after he put his hand on it. It was apparently covered in water and he could not see it.

I am always on the look out for wires that have come adrift from the power poles when it is windy & wet, or extension chords across the pavements.

Ive seen a puddle at the top of Sansabai bubbling and hissing away - there was clearly a live wire below it.
Ive also seen that Soi 3 foot deep ... the current was so hard it was sweeping over parked motorbikes.

It gets worse every year , as more swamp/vacant land gets filled in.
Not far north of the police station at Patong is Fire Station road. The PS side of that corner ( with Middle Broken rd ) was once a largish klong.
    Now its 3 big guesthouses.
And further north again , that is still reminents of bush paddocks was a little bridge crossing the same to APK Guesthouse. That klong has been drained , and excavated 2 stories down. God knows what is being built there , but it IS old creek/riverbed.
Thai law is quite strict about protecting watercourses and water rights , it had to be so as wet rice production wasnt disrupted - so this development is all clearly due to corruption - making blocks of land where they never existed before. Its the same up at the lights at Phrabaramee where the police box is at the lights - the deep and rocky klong there is now filled in...

Maybe in Patong water doesn't flow to the nearest low point?
    Yeah, right 555!

The Klong/lake next to my gaff occasionally flooded but not recently.

It often floods/king tides at Kalim on the road near where Lew used to live.

we used to get cut off up in Kamala Hills sometimes when the Klong decided to flood and reclaim the road next to it which was our only entry/exit....555

We had one big one in Lala about 5 years back - Kap Rob will recall this ...
Basically the big road had become a dam , stopping sustained heavy rain from draining the valley to the sea. That has been rectified by more drainage - but the swamp in the pic is also being filed in , which wont help!

Ohlala would have copped it bad. if I can recall it was below road level. They have some great decorations and Old Artifacts in there, lucky they weren't ruined.
